Box 196650 Anchorage, Alaska 99519-6650 Ref: Well and Sewer Design for Hillside North #6, Lot 2, Block 2 To whom it may concern: The reference property is currently undeveloped. The owner wishes to build a 4 bedroom house with an on-site septic system and well. Two test holes were performed on the property, one by A.W.W.C., Inc., and the other by Dee High, P.E. The soils are summarized as follows: 6 1. SOILS: A.W.W.C. Test Hole #1 was excavated to a depth of V feet and no groundwater was encountered. There was approximately F of organics at the top of the test hole followed by a GW layer to a depth of 7 to 8 feet. Below the GW layer to the bottom of the test hole was a SP/SM material. One percolation test was performed in this test hole at a depth of 6 feet and the soil absorbed water as fast as it was added. The soils encountered in the test hole performed by Dee High, P.E. were similar as to what was encountered in A.W.W.C. test hole #1. The soils in this test hole were also found to be less than 1 min./inch. It is our opinion that the insitu soil will serve as a filter. 2. TRENCH DESIGN: a. Percolation Rate: <1 minutes/inch b. Allowable Application Rate: 1.2 gallons/day/ft 2 c. Number of Bedrooms: 4 d. Design Flow: 600 gallons per day e. Minimum Absorption Area: 500 ft2 f. Maximum total depth: 8 - 9 feet g. Effective Depth: 4 feet h. Reduction Factor = 0..50 i. Width: 5 feet j. Length: 55 feet k. Effective absorption area = 550 ft2 (500 ft2+) 3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100 feet of the proposed upgrade. 4. TOPOGRAPHY: The entire lot has a gradual slope from east to west that is less than 25% (see attached topography drawing). In short, there are no slope concerns.
