The new septic system will serve an existing 4 bedroom residence. SOILS A test hole was excavated on May 23, 2021, and logged by Wayne Wayley, PLS, Denali North. The test hole was dug to a depth of 16 feet. The soils consisted of sand and gravels with traces of silt. No groundwater was observed after 10 -day monitoring. PERCOLATION TEST One percolation test was conducted between 6 and 7 feet below the ground surface. Results from the percolation test indicate the soils to have an application rate of 1.2 gallons per square foot. Test hole and percolation test locations are indicated in the site plan accompanying this permit request. TOPOGRAPHY The topography of the subject parcel slopes away from Monron St. at a 5-7%, to a crest of a hill circling the back half of the property. At the crest, the hill slopes down with slopes ranging greater than 25% but less than 45% slopes for over 10 -feet. Working within the steep slope subsection of the code, we have sited the absorption field only as close as needed to provide adequate space for this replacement system and an alternate site. No vegetation is expected to be disturbed down gradient of the crest of the hill. SEPTIC 'PANIC REQUIREMENTS We propose a new 1,250 septic tank with the large access manhole. We will verify that the appropriate cover is placed over the tank and report depth on the record drawings. DRAIN FIELD RESIGN We are proposing a deep trench absorption field that will be constructed parallel to the slope contours in conformance with municipality requirements. The current residence is a 4 bedroom dwelling with a design flow rate of 600 gallons per day. The prescribed application rate is 1.2 gallons/ft2. The Eklutna East, Lot 6 Page 2 of 2 Tune 8, 2021 required area is 500 ft'`. We are proposing an 8 -foot effective depth, deep trench drainfield that will be 32 feet in length for a total of 512 ft2. REPLACEMENT SYSTEM There is sufficient area for a redundant/ alternate site to be installed within the 30 foot radius of the test hole. See attached design drawing for the primary and alternate site locations and specifications. SURROUNDING PROPERTIES There are no water wells within 200 feet of the proposed system. The subdivision is serviced by the municipal water system. SURFACE WATERS There is no surface water within 100 feet of the proposed system. Drainage arrows on the site plan indicate the slope and direction of surface runoff. (See attached site plan) We do not anticipate any adverse effects on the neighboring septic systems, reserve areas or drainage patterns by the installation of the proposed wells and septic system.
