Re: Septic change order OSP211378

To Whom it may concern:
This is a request for a septic change order on the above referenced lot. A test holes
was excavated during the house excavation phase which showed silty gravel fill
mixed with organics (no sticks just peat) for the entire 22 foot depth. Two chunks of
concrete (2'x2') were found during the test hole excavation. The perc rate was 8
minutes per inch with no water observed during the spring (May) high water season,
see the site plan. We have designed a deep trench using the steep slope provisions in
the code 15.65.210.4.a, see sheet S3 for a cross section of the site. A second test hole
will be done for the reserve area during excavation. This system will not impact any
of the neighboring properties due to the lot layout and the type of septic system
being installed.
A geotechnical engineering (Keith Mobley P.E.) reviewed the site during excavation
of the foundation and said the soils were good for placement of the septic system in
the fill dirt, see attached email. Water from the septic or run-off from the house roof
will not be an issue for the steep slope. The water table is deeper than 25 feet. The
foundation was installed last year and we have had a very wet August with no issues
on the steep slope fill around the house of anyplace on the lot. All of the disturbed
areas around the house will be seeded and landscaped note added to the drawings.

It is anticipated that the leach field water will flow down to the native soil where most will infiltrate and
some may flow on the native soil surface and daylight at the toe of the fill. Because the fill is porous with
debris and organics, the amount remaining in the fill will be minor, thus not impacting the stability of
the slope. Volume wise, 1year of design effluent will fill less than 20% of the expected pore volume in
the effluent cone under the leach field.

As I explained on the phone the MOA On-site would like a simple statement from you addressing the
stability of the slope on Harmony Ranch lot 9 if we install the septic system in the fill. Ross is worried
about the additional water in the fill. We dig a 20' plus test hole for the new septic system design with
no water ... and during the foundation excavation we hit no water in the fill. Call if you need more
information.
