Services Department per AMC 15.65. Provide notification by calling (907) 343-7904 (24/7).
4. From October 15 to April 15, a subsurface soil absorption system under construction during freezing weather
shall be either:
a. Opened and Closed on the same day, or
b. Covered, sealed, and heated to prevent freezing

Septic System Upgrade
Design Narrative and Waiver Request
Design Narrative: The existing undocumented septic system serving the subject property has failed and
needs to be upgraded. The existing septic system will be decommissioned in accordance with the code.
The proposed 5‐bedroom septic system is detailed on the design drawing. If constructed as designed, it
will;
Satisfy all code required horizontal distances except for the one discussed in the waiver request
above, and all vertical separation distances,
Not cause any probable adverse impacts to adjacent properties,
Not negatively impact existing wells and septic systems on adjacent properties,
Not be adversely affected by potential drainage that could flow onto and off of the subject
property.
Waiver Request: The design requires a waiver to allow the Bed drainfield to be no less than 2‐feet from
the boundary of the Lot 4 septic easement located on Lot 5 and allow the Bed drainfield to
be 17‐feet wide. Granting the waiver will not cause separation distance issues to any
existing septic or water systems on Lot 5, will not adversely impact future septic system
upgrades on Lot 5, and the Bed drainfield will effectively treat effluent similar to a 15‐foot
wide drainfield.

Sieve Analysis: The soil layer located from 4'-16' was sieved by Crewdson Engineering. >50% of the soil sample by weight
passed through a #4 sieve and had <5% fines. As such, the soil is classified by USCS as a sand.
