Absorption Trench Change Order
Dear On -Site Services Engineer:
During the installation of the proposed septic system for Lot 1 Birch Woods (OSP221343 CO#1)
it was discovered that the soils changed as excavation moved further away from TH#4 and TH#5.
The soils were noted as having more fines, and we expected a slower percolation rate.
However, it was determined that splitting the required absorption area to three trenches would
ensure that the absorption area would fall within the favorable soils represented in the trench
design. The total absorption area will be inside the 30' radius of the test hole and percolation test
performed prior to construction.

Absorption Trench Change Order
Dear On -Site Services Engineer:
During this installation of the proposed septic system for Lot 1 Birch Woods (OSP221343) it was
discovered that the ground water has risen since the inspection recorded on the test hole log
submitted with the permit application. Because of this change the overall depth of the trenches will
need to be reduced to ensure the separation from ground water.
Upon further consideration it was determined that the orientation of the proposed trenches would
need to be rotated 90 degrees. This will better accommodate the elevation contours on the lot and
other construction related influences. Due to the adjustment, there will need to be an additional
test hole and percolation test performed at the time of construction.
Please refer to the accompanying Septic Plan and Profile pages for additional details.

Septic system design
Dear On-Site Services Engineer:
The owner of the above lot intends to build a 3-bedroom home on the property, so we are
submitting this permit application for the construction of a new well and septic system. The
attached site plan identifies the location of the home as well as the proposed well, septic location
and alternate site. No conflicts exist between this proposed system and any other well or septic
system, whether on this lot or adjacent lots.
The ground surface on the lot is relatively mild throughout the property. The new septic system is
located towards the rear of the lot, as far from the stream as possible. (There are no slopes greater
than 25% within 50 feet downslope of either the primary or alternate site.) Contours are shown on
the site plan showing the grade and direction of flow. Stormwater drainage will not impact this
septic system. The new trench will be constructed parallel to the slope as much as possible.
Wells on this and adjacent lots are shown. The new system will be a minimum of 100’ from all
wells and surface water, and more than 5’ away from the septic tank. The alternate site is located
more than 6’ away.
Please refer to the attached test hole logs, plan and profile pages for the septic design. If this design
is followed, there will be no adverse impacts to adjacent properties.
