October 5, 2023 Municipalities of Anchorage On-Site Water & Wastewater Program 4700 Elmore Road Anchorage, AK 99507 RE: SEPTIC SYSTEM UPGRADE PERMIT LEGAL: T12N R3W SEC 22 LOT 45 (EAST HOUSE) The property owner has requested we obtain a permit to upgrade the failed undocumented septic system of the above referenced lot that is serving the eastward house. This “crib/cesspool” has collapsed and there doesn’t visually appear to be a septic tank towards the house. The existing “crib” will be abandoned in place and if a septic tank is found it will be decommissioned. We propose to install two deep trenches and 1000-gallon tank to serve the existing 3-bedroom residence. We would recommend a 1500-gallon tank be installed for future consideration or flexibility. No groundwater was noted in the MOA on-site file nor in the testhole, but if groundwater is encountered during installation an epoxy coated steel 1500-gallon septic tank may be required. The design is based on the recent test hole conducted in September 2023. No groundwater was observed at test hole excavation or monitoring. The slopes are moderate at 3-8% at the proposed upgrade location. The lot and area are served by private & public water. The design will not impact any of the neighboring properties.
