2. All requirements specified in Anchorage Municipal code Chapters 15.55 and 15.65 and the State of Alaska
Wastewater Disposal Regulations (18AAC72) and Drinking Water Regulations (18AAC80)
3. The wastewater code requires inspections during the installation. The engineer shall notify the Development
Services Department per AMC 15.65. Coodinate with On -Site staff regarding preferred method.
4. From October 15 to April 15, a subsurface soil absorption system under construction during freezing weather
shall be either:
a. Opened and Closed on the same day, or
b. Covered, sealed, and heated to prevent freezing

RE: NEW SEPTIC SYSTEM PERMIT
LEGAL: SHANGRI-LA ESTATES-EAST PHASE 2, BLOCK 5, LOT 2
The property owner has requested we obtain a new well & septic permit for the above referenced
lot. We propose to install shallow trenches and 1500-gallon deep burial HDPE STEP tank to
serve the proposed 3-bedroom residence. If shallow groundwater is encountered during
installation an epoxy coated steel septic tank, tank anchoring or other action may be required.
The design is based on the attached test hole (TH-3) conducted in 2022 by Triad Engineering,
LLC located in the MOA record documents that shows groundwater at 8’ on September 2, 2022,
and none observed on other dates. Groundwater was recently monitored for TH-3 on May 15,
2026, and was found dry to 10.6’ below grade. Groundwater was also measured in the apparent
test hole (TH-4) to the north along the property line of Lots 2 & 3 and was observed at 7’. The
property will be served by the proposed well as noted on the design. The slopes are moderate at
8-13% at the proposed upgrade location.
The lot and area are served by private water. The design will not impact any of the neighboring
