Box 196650 Anchorage, AK 99519-6650 Subject: Lot 8, Sand Lake Subdivision No. 1 Separation Distance Waiver Absorption Trench to Lot Line/Absorption Trench to Absorption Pit Dear On Site Services Engineer: Lot 8 of Sand Lake Subdivision No. 1 has a surface area of less than 18,000 square feet. The area available for a septic system is further restricted by the location of the well on the lot to the east, Sand Lake to the north and the well on this lot. The only available area is in the southwest corner of the lot and in close proximity to the west and south property lines. Subsurface soils on the lot were found to be well graded sand which is typically very good for the treatment of septic effluent. Very little migration to the east or west is expected. We therefore request a waiver of 3' to the south and west property lines and 8' to the absorption pit on the lot to the west. A sewer main is currently in place in West 80`h Avenue which fronts both properties. A connection to the main in the future is possible should either system fail. Health & Human Services The subject lot slopes at a rate of 2% to 6% in an east to west direction and from 4% to 10% in a south to north direction toward Sand Lake. The slope is fairly uniform and will prevent any ponding at or near the proposed deep trench system. Soils encountered ranged from GW to SW and are excellent for an onsite system. No groundwater was encountered during excavation or noted during the monitoring period. If the system is constructed as planned the following statements can be made: 1. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on the wells currently in use or to be placed in the future on lots in the area. 2. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on existing septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the future. 3. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on reserved space, either surface or subsurface, on any lots located in the area. 4.
