Change Order 1 is CE's proposed design. The existing septic system needs to be upgraded. The following is a list of the issues that need correcting and the proposed upgrades. 1. The septic tank and drainfield are undersized by one bedroom. a. Design proposes to i. Decommission the existing septic tank ii. Install a new 1500-gallon septic tank, and iii. Increase the size of the existing drainfield to accommodate five bedrooms. 2. The existing drainfield pipes need to be thoroughly cleaned and the drainrock needs to be remediated. a. Design proposes to i. Hydrojet clean the drainfield distribution pipes ii. Install a Bio-Microbics RetroFAST 0.375 treatment system to remediate the drainrock. Please revise waiver to be for the following separation distances only, which are slightly less than what's shown on the drawing to allow for small adjustments to the design during construction. 1. Subject property well to a. Proposed septic tank: 78 feet b. Proposed drainfield: 92 feet i. JUSTIFICATION: 1. A recent well water analysis for a coming COSA shows Nitrates (Non- Detect)and Coliform Bacteria (negative) are both good. 2. The well is on the opposite side of the house from the septic tank and drainfield,which are both located near the main entrance to the house and the garage. As such, any overflowing sewage is likely to be seen and taken care of long before it has an opportunity to flow around the house to the well. 3. Sub-surface Pollution:The well depth is 407 feet with a static water level of 143 feet, which means it's pressurized to 113 psi [(407 ft. — 143 ft.) x 0.43 psi/ft.= 113 psi]. The aquifer's high pressure at this location clearly indicates it's very confined and as such would be near impossible to pollute from the subject property above. 2. Property line to proposed drainfield: 2.0 feet a. JUSTIFICATION: i. The undersized lot doesn't have any available room to locate the drainfield away from the property line. ii. The drainfield is not likely to have any adverse effects to the adjacent right-of- way to the south. The edge of street pavement is currently greater than 10 feet from the proposed drainfield. iii. The drainfield is not likely to have any adverse effects to the adjacent private property to the west. The septic tank for this lot is approximately 9 feet from the proposed drainfield. 3. Foundation to proposed drainfield: 6.0 feet a. JUSTIFICATION: i. The undersized lot doesn't have any available room to locate the drainfield away from the foundation. ii. The drainfield is in fast percolating soils that are not likely to allow effluent to migrate laterally to the foundation. A very small portion of the drainfield is located less than 10 feet from the foundation and as such is not likely to have any adverse effects on the foundation.
