Health & Human Services REFERENCE: Request amendment of existing waiver for Class "C" well located on Lot 9; Block 3; Sand Lake Subdivision #2 Dear 144r. Pettis, A waiver was issued 11/23/82 for the Class "C" well located on Lot 9; Block 3; Sand Lake Subdivision #2 (8321 -FA -157). The waiver reduced the separation distance between this well and the septic systems located on Lots 4 thru 8 Block 3 Sand Lake Subdivision #2 from the required 150 feet to 100 feet. Alaska Water & Wastewater Consultants, Inc. has been contracted by the homeowners to obtain Health Authority Approvals on Lots 45 and 46 Block 4 Sand Lake Subdivision #2. These two residences are across the street from the referenced class "C" well (see attached site plan and asbuilt surveys). The septic systems on Lot 45 and Lot 46, (installed after the well on Lot 9; Block 3) are also within the 150 foot protective radius of this class "C" well. We request an amendment to the existing waiver to include Lots 45 and 46 Block 4; Sand Lake Subdivision #2. We do not anticipate any adverse effects to neighboring properties with the amendment of this waiver. We have pulled water samples from the referenced class "C" well and only 1 O.B. (other bacteria) was encountered and nitrate levels were undetectable. Given the fact that this encroachment has existed for almost 16 years, and the well water quality has been virtually uneffected, there appears to be minimal risk in amending the existing waiver (for the well on Lot 9; Block 3; Sand Lake #2) to allow a 100 foot separation distance to the septic systems on Lots 45 & 46, Block 4; Sand Lake Subdivision #2.
