to the property line has been approved. The approved separation distance is 6.8 feet. In addition,
your request for a waiver of the required 10 feet horizontal separation from the absorption field
to the water service line has been approved. The approved separation distance is 4.0 feet. See
engineer's waiver request for justifications. If at any time it is believed that the reduced
separation between the water service line and absorption field is a contamination risk to the
public water system, this waiver is void and the encroachment will need to be addressed.
This waiver approval applies to the existing absorption field only. Any future upgrade to the on-
site wastewater disposal system will require all separation distances be met or another approval
from this department.

In this situation, if the homeowner were to do any work on the existing leach field, then we would want the property owner
to move the water line to meet the 10’ separation.
I’ll keep record on our end in the property connect records, so if they need to do a water service line repair in the future, we
can enforce moving the water line.

We are looking at a waiver request between an existing septic field and a public water service line (4.1 ft vs required 10
ft). As you can see from the engineer’s waiver request, the only justification is that the water line is under pressure.
Could you weigh in on the risk of contamination to the public water system or is there someone you could forward this
to? Before we consider issuing a waiver, we will want to hear from AWWU on whether there are any objections or not.

Water Line & Property Line Waiver Request
Ladies and Gentlemen:
The existing water service line entering the northwest corner of the house is located approximately 4.1
feet from the existing drain field. The system has existed in this configuration since it was installed in 1982,
with no adverse effects. The water line is under pressure, so it is very unlikely that it will ever be
contaminated by the absorption field.
We request a separation distance waiver for an existing absorption field to north property line of (6.8').
This is an existing drain field which was installed in 1982. The field has been in operation since installation.
Granting these waivers are not likely to affect the health and safety of this lot or the surrounding lots now
or in the future.

5. STATEMENT OF INSPECTION BY ENGINEER
As certified by my seal affixed hereto and as of the validation date shown below, I verify that my investigation, based on procedures
outlined in the Certificate of On -Site Systems Approval Guidelines for this application, shows that the on-site water supply and/or
wastewater disposal system is (are) safe, functional and adequate for the number of bedrooms and type of structure indicated
herein. I further verify that based on the information obtained from the Municipality of Anchorage files and from my investigation and
inspection, the on-site water supply and/or wastewater disposal system is (are) in compliance with all applicable Municipal and State
codes, ordinances, and regulations in effect at the time of installation.
In conducting an adequacy test, I attempt to provide a thorough, conscientious engineering analysis of the system in accordance with MoA
COSA guidelines and regulations. The reported results describe the performance of the system under the conditions encountered at the time
of the test, and separation distances measured to readily identifiable features. The operational life of all wells and septic systems depend on
the local soil condition, ground water levels that may fluctuate during the year, and the water usage of the family being served by the system.
These conditions are outside the control of the evaluator of this system. All systems eventually fail and satisfactory test results do not
guarantee future performance of the system, nor do they guarantee that there are no hidden defects or encroachments. Therefore we cannot
provide any warranty for future performance, nor can we estimate remaining life of the system. The content of this report is for the sole
benefit of the owner listed above. Reliance on this report by another person is at their own risk. Pannone Engineering Services LLC highly
recommends buyers hire their own engineer to evaluate this report.
