The septic system absorbtion rate has been tested and found adequate for a 3 bedroom use. The leachfield was installed in 1974 by Berg Underground and was inspected and approved by the Municipality at that time. A search of your files has not produced a soil log. The designation of a soil :rating of 225 would lead me to believe a test hole was dug and I have included soil logs from adjacent lots. The original tank size should also be corrected to 1250 gallons as shown on the enclosed reciept and by pumping. As the system was previously approved by MOA the matter of verification of 4' vertical separation to water table, and resulting approval is left to your determination. Box -1.96650 Anchorage, AK. 99519 REF: Lot 5, Block 5, Schroeder East Addition Dear Mr. Morris: On behalf of my client, Mr. Kerry W. Kimura I am submitting the information necessary for a determination of Health Authority Approval for the above referenced lot. My previous Health Authority summi_tal contained a letter noting that a search of MOA files had not produced a soil log and since the MOA had inspected the original installation and had granted previous approval the matter of 4' vertical separation to any ground water table was left to your determination. Your reply suggested that I submit reasonable evidence in the form of neigbor.i_ng soil logs that would allow determination of area GWT. The enclosed soil logs are provided for your review. The soil logs for lots 1 & 3 of block 5 show no water to a depth of 14' and 11'. Whale this is not a sufficient depth for the seepage pit on lot 5, lack of any water is a good indicator. The most valid evidence comes from the soil logs done for road upgrade by Quadra Engineering. I have enclosed a profile drawing which shows that the level of the bottom of the test hole is 4' below the elevation of the seepage pit. The test hole # 10, performed by Quadra is 42' south and approximately 75'west of the seepage pit on lot 5. Also included on the profile is the relative elevation of the test hole on lot- 5, block 4, Schroeder East which is North of lot 5, block 5. This soil log shows water at 10' which :in :relation to the elevation of the seepage pit- places the GWT at 16'depth.. To the best of my knowledge there does not seem to be a GWT problem in this subdivision. While one cannot be 100% certain that groundwater is not present to affect the existing installation, there is reasonable evidence that perhaps suggests the absence of a ground water problem in this instance. I would suggest that any future upgrade of the septic system :require a testhole to +16' with a, 7 day monitor tube installed. As the original :inspection .report was approved by MOA, the continued approval using the available evidence presented is left to your determination.
