The drainfield is in a state of failure and needs to be upgraded. We are proposing to install a dual 5 -wide trench type drainfield and a new 1,500 gallon septic tank. A flow splitter will be installed so that the owner can utilize the old trench after it has "recovered". The old septic tank will be decommissioned per UPC. The inspection report for the old system stated that the drainfield was sized for a four (4) bedroom, however, the visual soil rating was determined to be 100 ft2/bedroom by Leroy Reid, P. E. and the old drainfield was constructed with 612 ft'. In short, the old drainfield is sized fora five (5) bedroom house and thus a reserve drainfield is not shown on the design. One testhole was excavated on the property and the drainfield is designed around the 30 foot radius of this testhole. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: Seethe attached for the upper strata which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test results. Attached is a sieve analysis on the lower strata. 2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications. 3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface water concerns. 4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached topography drawing, the average topography around the proposed drainfield is relatively flat.
