Test hole justification
Dear On-Site Services Engineer:
The septic system on the subject lot was installed in September of last year. The exact location of
the trench was shifted during construction to accommodate conditions in the field. In the end, the
trench was found to have been built outside the radii of the historical test holes used for the
design. The trench was designed to a perk rate of 12 min/in, and a bottom of trench 7’ below
grade.
During the construction of the trench, we found soils consistent with the historical test holes
along the entire length of the trench. In addition, we looked at test hole logs for surrounding
properties and found that this type of soil is common in the area. The following table shows the
property, the perk rates found, depth of hole, and groundwater readings:

Subject: Sequoia Estates, Block 2, Lot 6—6720 Spectrum Circle
Septic System Design
Dear On-Site Services Engineer:
The septic system on the subject lot in in good condition and operating as originally designed.
The owner of the property would like to construct two alternate absorption trenches in the event
of failure of the primary system. We are submitting this permit application for the construction
of two new absorption trenches for possible future use. The attached site plan identifies the
location of the home and the proposed absorption trench locations. No conflicts exist between
these proposed locations and any other well or septic system on this lot or adjacent lots.
The ground surface on the lot slopes toward the west. There are no slopes greater than 25%
within 50 feet downslope of either of the absorption trenches. Drainage arrows are shown on the
site plan showing the grade and direction of flow. Storm water drainage will not impact this
septic system. The new trenches will be constructed parallel to the slope as much as possible.
Wells on this and adjacent lots are shown. The new trenches will be a minimum of 100' from all
wells and surface water, and more than 5' away from the septic tank. The trenches will be
constructed a minimum of 6' or twice the effective depth from sidewall to sidewall.
Please refer to the attached test hole log and plan and profile sheets for the septic design. If this
design is followed,there will be no adverse impacts to adjacent properties.

We are submitting an application for the upgrade of the septic system for this lot. The submittal
consists of three (3) drawings showing the present improvements on the lot and the adjoining
properties, (sheet 1/3), the proposed improvements of the lot, of which only the septic system is
subject to this permit application, (sheet 2/3), and a schematic of the septic system, (sheet 3/3). Soil
logs and percolation tests of applicable testholes are also enclosed. The septic system design is
based on the following:

During an Health Authority Inspection it was discovered that the
septic tank on subject property was 80 feet� more or less distant
from the well. The well is 105 feet from the absorption field on

By rising the line from the foundation to minimal grade J.t should
be possible to reinstall the septic tank at the proper distance
from the well and reconnect the tank to the drainfield^
