The permit shows two 80' long 5' wide, 4' effective, but our perks gave us an application rate of 0.8 GPD/SF. We would like to install just the one 80' trench along the north property line, still maintaining the 750+ SF of absorption area for a 4 bedroom home. In addition, we would also like to deepen the trench to a total of 10' instead of the permitted 8' to allow for gravity flow from the septic tank. The test holes we performed we dug to 17 and 16 feet with no sign of ground water, and we do not expect ground water to appear, as there is no recorded ground water in the test holes on the surrounding lots. Let me know if we are okay to proceed or if you would like anything else before the approval of this change. Klatt Road Septic System Design and Permit Application Dear On-Site Services Engineer: The absorption bed on the subject lot has failed and must be replaced. We are submitting this design and permit application for the construction of a new septic system. The attached site plan identifies the location of the home and the existing well along with the existing and proposed septic locations. No conflicts exist between the proposed system and any other well or septic system on this or adjacent lots. The ground surface on the lot slopes to the west, but is flat in the area of the absorption system. There are no slopes greater than 25% within 50 feet downslope of the proposed site. Topographic contours are shown on the site plan showing the grade and direction of flow. Storm water drainage will not impact this septic system. The new trenches will be constructed parallel to the slope as much as possible. Wells on this and adjacent lots are shown. The new system will be a minimum of 100’ from all wells and surface water, and more than 5’ away from the septic tank. It was felt the surface of the underlying soil would usually be covered with water regardless of the spacing of the lines. The bottom of the distribution lines was placed 6 inches above the percolation zone. One inch of water over the entire bed area is 140 cubic feet. Since the bed was placed level, the water depth will spread uniformly over the percolation zone as it is slowly absorbed into the strata.
