RE: SEPTIC SYSTEM UPGRADE PERMIT WITH WAIVERS
LEGAL: T12N R3W SEC 15 L64A 9541 ELMORE ROAD
The property owner has requested we obtain a permit to upgrade the failed septic system of the
above referenced lot. We propose to install one deep trench to serve the existing 3-bedroom
residence. The design is based on the recent test hole conducted on April 8, 2022. No
groundwater was observed at test hole excavation or monitoring or in the surrounding soils data.
The slopes are moderate at 5% at the proposed upgrade location. The trench will be
perpendicular to slope and within 5 of the north property line and we request waivers as shown
on the design. We took elevation shots of the area and also propose to verify existing septic tank
barriers and protections of the existing system at construction. We proposed to keep both the
existing and proposed fields via the proposed diverter. The lot and area are served by private
water. The design will not impact any of the neighboring properties. Please contact us if you

Please address the change in elevation over the length of the field and how to ensure that the entire
effective depth is in the perked SM/GM layer.

We took elevation shots of the proposed field area (5% slope) and the DCO. The existing DCO is 4'
from grade so 4.5' at the proposed field lateral mid point of the 501 trench. Using the elevations and
proposed field run of 50' there is about 3' of elevation difference and the testhole /groundwater is
ok. we can always do a confirming TH too if need be. The western lower proposed trench end is 3'
from grade, the middle at 4.5' and the upper slope at 6' with a total of 6' ED that is -12' TD or 1' of
fudge room. it was designed conservatively speaking. You can always place a permit note if need be.

Septic Tank Replacement
To Whom It May Concern:
Attached please find an application to install a new 1250 gallon steel septic tank at the
referenced 3 bedroom house in Anchorage. The existing steel septic tank was installed
in 1983, and a hole was found in the tank during a repair. It will be removed and the
new tank set in the same place. A foundation cleanout will also be installed. The
drainfield has been tested and no work is proposed for it.
There are no surface water concerns, and the new tank will be placed more than 100 ft
away from any private wells. I am not aware of any adverse effect that this upgrade
would have on any adjacent properties' water and wastewater treatment needs.

The length dimension is the length(in feet) of the trench or drainfield. The
depth of a trench or pit is the distance between the surface of the ground and
the bottom of the excavation(in feet). There is no set width for trenches.
The gravel depth is the minimum depth of gravel between the outfall pipe and
the bottom of the excavation(in feet).

Permit applicant has the responsibility to inform this department during the
installation inspections of any wells adjacent to this property and the number
of residences that the well will serve.

Backfilling of any system without final inspection and approval by this department
will. be subject to prosecution.
Minimum distance between a well and any on-site sewage disposal system is 100 feet
for a private well or 150 to 200 feet from a public well depending upon the type
of public well. Minimum distance from a private well to a private sewer line
is 25 feet and to a community sewer line is 75 feet. Well logs are required
and must be returned to this department within 30 days of the well completion.
Other requirements may apply. Specifications and construction diagrams are
available to insure proper installation.
