Ref: Septic System Upgrade for Lot 17, Block 2 Paradise Valley Subdivision
To whom it may concern:
The proposed 4 bedroom house will be served by a private well and septic system. Three test
holes were excavated west of the proposed house location. The septic system will be designed
around the 30 foot radii of these test holes. We are proposing that a 1250 gallon septic tank and a
deep trench type drainfield be installed. Comments regarding the proposed design are
summarized as follows:
1. SOILS: See the attached log which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring,
and the percolation test results. It is our opinion that due to the overall appearance of the soils, an
application rate of 0.6 gallons/day/ft2 should be used.
2. TRENCH DESIGN:
a. Percolation Rate: 11.2, 40, & 24 minutes/inch
b. Allowable Application Rate: 0.6 gallons/day/ftz
c. Number of Bedrooms: 4
d. Design Flow: 600 gallons per day
e. Minimum Absorption Area: 1000 ftz
f. Total Depth: 9 feet (max.)
g. Effective Depth: 6 feet
h. Width: 2.5 feet
i. Reduction Factor: N/A
j. Minimum Length: 84 feet total length (2 @ 42 feet long each)
k. Effective absorption area = 1008 ft
3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100 feet of the proposed
upgrade.
4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached topography site plan, the average

topography of this property is a 25% to 30% percent running from approximately east to west.
The area below the proposed drainfield has an average slope of 15% to 25% slope. The
contractor will be required to grade the area below the drainfields so that no slope exceeds 25
percent for at least 50 feet downhill. The trenches are to be installed parallel to slope contours.
I am unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic
