Dear Mr. Roth:
The owner of the above referenced lot is proposing to construct a 4 bedroom single
family dwelling (see attached Plot Plan). The proposed 'dwenrng is to'Ge-served by a
community water system and a private septic system. With this letter we are requesting
plan review and a permit to install an onsite,septic system to serve the proposed
development.
DESIGN SUMMARY
Soils
A test hole was excavated on the ,adiacent lot, Lot 7, February 25, 2004, and a monitor

On April 21, 2004, two test holes were excavated within a 30 -feet radius of the proposed
onsite drainfield and replacement field (see attached Septic System Plot Pian) The first
test hole, labeled AKTH#1, was excavated to,a depth of 14 feet below grade.
Groundwater was not encountered during excavation. After a minimum 4 -hour presoak,
a percolation test; was conducted between feet and 6 feet in this test hole on April 22,

For AKTH#1 the percolationtest indicates a soil percolation rate of 25.3 minutes per inch
which'translates to a wastewater application rate of 0.6 gpd/sgft. For AKTH#2 the
percolation test ,lndjcates a" soil percolation rate of 48 minutes per inch which translates _
to a wastewater application' rate of 0.45 gpd/sqft. We will apply the higher application
rate, 0.45' gpd/sqft, for this design. The proposed drainfield will be �designed'within the
30-feet radius of these tesfholes

The attached topographic map shows this lot to slope evenly from the southeast to the
northwest, with the contours perpendicular to the bong lot lines. The slope is
approximately 16% throughout the lof. There does notwappear to be any slopes 25% or
greater on the
Surface Water
There are no surface waters within 100 feet ofthe proposed septic system
Surrounding Properties
This property and the parent subdivision will be servg4 by community water system. We
are unaware.of any adverse impacts this installationwould have or adjacent wells or
septic systems; Development on this lof,wlllw not preclude development of wells and.
septic systems on neighboring lots in the future.

engineer registered in the State of Alaska. Certificates of Health Authority Approval are required for the transfer of
title (except between spouses) for properties served by a single-family on-site wastewater disposal and/or water
supply system. DSD also issues HAAs upon request to homeowners. Certificates of Health Authority Approval are
valid for 90 days from the date of issue for properties served by a private or Class C well and may be reissued with
new water sample results. (Certificates may be reissued for a period of up to one year with valid water samples.)
Certificates are valid for one year for properties served by Class A or B wells or a public water system. The
Municipality of Anchorage is not responsible for errors or omissions in the professional engineer's work.
