The proposed system will serve a 2-bedroom single-family residence. The existing system was installed in 2004 and did not meet COSA operational requirements. A soils log, design calculations, a site plan, design drawings and construction specifications are enclosed for your review. Design Calcs: No Groundwater observed to a depth of 12.5 feet below ground surface (May 25,2011) Soil Rating. From Testhole (5/18/2011) 9.6 min/in = 0.8 gal per sq.ft/day No. of Bedrooms 2 Required Area per Bedroom: 150/0.8 =187.5 sq.ft. Total area required: 187.5 x 2 = 375 sqft System: The proposed system consists of an existing 1000 gallon tank and a shallow trench absorption field. The absorption field will be 50 feet long and 5 feet wide and contain 3.5 feet (463 sq.ft, effective) of sewer rock. Soils: A test hole was excavated on May 18, 2011. See the attached soil logs. Ground water was monitored for through May 25,2011. Ground water was not observed. Surface Water: No surface waters were observed within one hundred feet of the proposed septic system upgrade. Topography: The general topography in Mile Hi #1 subdivision slopes steeply to the south. At Block 8 lot 6 a level area has been cut into the mountain side for the drive way and existing house. Our proposed design places the drain field parallel to the lot contours and the base of the cut slope. All portions of the drain field will be greater than 50 feet from the drown grade slopes exceeding 25 percent. This requires a 1000 gallon septic tank. This is almost a 1 acre lot and no adverse impacts are expected from development. The neighboring lots are large, about 1 acre. Other adjacent lots are minimally impacted and outside the 200 foot radius of any impact.
