The septic system is in the state of failure and needs to be replaced. Two test holes where excavated on the neighboring property. The proposed septic system will be designed around the 30 foot radii of these test holes. We are proposing that a 1500 gallon S.T.E.P. tank and a pressurized bed type drainfield be installed. The property owner owns both lots 1 & 2 and has granted himself and ingress/egress easement (see attached). Comments regarding the proposed design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: Attached are logs which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test results. It is our opinion that due to the overall appearance of the soils, an application rate of 0.3 gallons/day/ft2 should be used. 2. TRENCH DESIGN: a. Percolation Rate: 40 & 60 minutes/inch b. Allowable Application Rate: 0.30 gallons/day/ft c. Design Flow: 600 gallons per day d. Minimum Absorption Area: 2000 ft2 e. Total Depth: 3.5 feet (max.) f. Sand filter: 1 foot of M.O.A. approved sand filter g. Effective Depth: 0.5 feet (min.) h. Width: 20 feet i. Minimum Length: 100 feet long j. Effective absorption area = 2000 ftz Note: The distribution lines are to be 1.25 inch Sch. 40 PVC with 1/8 inch diameter holes spaced 65 inches on center (18 holes per lateral / 72 holes total). 3701 E. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100 feet of the proposed upgrade. 4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached design drawing the area around the proposed drainfield is relatively flat. In short there is no slope concems. The recieving soils are a silty gravel with a percolation rate of 30 min./inch, which requires an application rate of 0.6 gpd/sf. For a 3 bedroom home the bed size is calculated at (3x150)/0.6 = 750 square feet of absorbtion area. The lot slopes from South to North at a 5%.f grade. It slopes sloghtly from East to West. The subdivision is served by a community water system and therefore contamination of domestic wells is remote.
