The permit is valid for 365 calendar days. If this was a well permit and the well has been drilled, a well log must be sent to this office for documentation of the installation and to close the permit. If this permit was for a wastewater disposal system, an original as -built inspection report must be sent to this office for review, approval and documentation. Box 19-6650 Anchorage, AK 99519 Dear Sirs: The purpose of this letter is to provide the required design narrative in support of our application for a permit to install a vault privy on Lot 10, Block 1, Raven Mountain Estates, Unit #l, located on Crow Creek Road in Girdwood. A site plan, design drawings and specifications are enclosed for your review. The owner of this lot is in the process of applying for a land use permit allowing use of a cabin as a dwelling on this lot. After consultation with Municipal officials he has elected to install a vault privy to avoid the disturbance associated with test hole excavation, as well as to save the cost of the soils analysis. He is aware that this permit will not allow him to drill a well on this lot and he plans to utilize water transported in plastic jugs for eating, drinking and washing. The owner is also aware that his gray water will have to be collected and disposed of properly off-site. The topography of much of the lot slopes steeply down towards the north and east; however the area where the vault privy will be installed is on a relatively level abandoned roadway. The proposed vault privy will be situated a minimum of 100 feet from a small stream that traverses the lot. The proposed project, if operated in accordance with Municipal requirements, will have no significant impact on present or future water supply and wastewater disposal systems serving adjacent properties, nor will it have any significant impact on reserved space -surface and subsurface, or on drainage. USE POLYURETHANE PAINT ON ALL INSIDE WOOD SURFACES CC%CIETE PIT ( WATER T:GHT TANK) inYattop 7echnica[Services 14530 Echo Street, Anchorage, JIX99516 Thone (907) 345-1355 Lot 10, Block 1, Raven Mountain Estates N1 Crow Creek Road, Girdwood, Alaska Vault privy installation Specifications 1.0 General: 1.1 The scope of the project consists of installation of a vault privy utilizing an approved 500 -gallon septic tank to contain excreta, which will then be pumped and transported to an approved disposal facility. 1.2 Construction shall be as depicted on the approved site plan and design drawings. Minor deviations from these drawings may be allowed or required by the engineer conducting the inspection. All construction procedures and material specifications shall conform to Municipal and State requirements. All separation distances shall be in conformance with Municipal requirements, unless specifically waived. 2.0 Vault Privy Tank: 2.1 The new 500 -gallon single -compartment septic tank shall be Municipally approved and have a bituminous coating. The manhole shall be fitted with a waterproof manhole riser extending to just below the level of the seat in the privy. An uncapped vent pipe made of ASTM D-3034 PVC shall be plumbed into the side of the manhole riser and from there extended up through the roof of the privy structure. 2.2 The aboveground privy structure shall be fabricated to the owner's design in accordance with all of the requirements of the latest edition of the Sanitarian's Handbook or as illustrated on the Municipal handout. 3.0 Inspection: 3.1 One (1) engineering inspection will be necessary after the privy is constructed to document conformance with these specifications and Municipal requirements. The owner shall provide a receipt documenting that the tank is an approved coated septic tank.
