The groundwater level on Lot 15, Block 8, The Tablelands Subdivision has unexpectedly risen making our original design for the septic system for this property no longer usable. We are therefore proposing to place an Advantex Septic Treatment System for a five -bedroom home on the property. The attached Site Plan and backup documentation identify the location and configuration of the new septic system and alternate site and the parameters used in the design. Also identified on the plans are the location of the surface drainage, test holes and water service on the lot. The system will not conflict with those on the surrounding lots. Drainage arrows and spot elevations are shown indicating the current drainage patterns. The drainage patterns will be maintained after construction. The test holes placed on this lot revealed silt with some sand. The percolation rate in the upper layers ranged from 40 minutes to 60 minutes per inch. Groundwater was recently noted at 3' below the surface. We are therefore proposing to place a five - bedroom Advantex Treatment System. The terrain of.the lot is such that gravity flow from the filter to the absorption bed is not possible and a second lift station will be required. The absorption bed will be 50' long x 15' wide for a total absorption area of 750 square feet. The bed will be constructed at the existing ground level. Approximately 1' of clean coarse sand will be required to replace the organic layer removed below the bed and to level the bed area. The ground surface on the lot slopes as shown on the site plan from west to east at shallow slopes. The absorption bed will be constructed parallel with the slope as much as possible in conformance with Municipal requirements. All components of the new Lot 15, Block 8, The Tablelands May 26, 2005 Page Two septic system will be constructed a minimum of 100' from any surface water and 10' from the water service on this and adjacent lots. If the system is constructed in accordance with our design the following statements apply: 1. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on the wells in the area or those to be constructed in the future. 2. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on existing septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the future. 3. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on reserve space, either surface or subsurface, on any lots located in the area. 4. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on drainage patterns in the area. The current drainage pattern will be maintained. Sincerely, Michael E. Anderson, P.E. We are therefore requesting a permit be issued for the construction of a new septic system to serve the new home. The subdivision is currently served by a community water system. No conflicts exist with adjacent septic systems or wells and the proposed septic system on this lot. The attached Site Plan and backup documentation identify the location and configuration of the proposed septic system and alternate site. The current drainage pattern is identified on the Site Plan. The drainage pattern will be maintained after development of this lot is complete. Test holes recently placed on the lot indicated silty gravel with minor amounts of sand in the area of the absorption trench and alternate site. The accepting soils were tested and found to have a percolation rate of between 40 minutes per inch and 60 minutes per inch. The system is designed with an application rate of .3 GPD/SF. Groundwater was found in the test holes during placement at 10' below the surface and was monitored during the ensuing period at 7.5' below the surface. Our design includes the placement of a new 1,500 -gallon septic tank along with 2 - 84' long and by 15' wide absorption beds to collect and treat the sewage generated in the house. The bottom of the beds will be 2.5' below the surface. The distribution pipe will be 2' below the surface. A flow splitter valve will be installed to insure even flow to each bed. A minimum of 3' of cover will be placed atop the beds and a minimum of 4' of cover will be placed atop the new septic tank. The ground surface on the lot slopes at varying grades from north to south as shown on the Site Plan with steep slopes near the south end of the lot. The absorption beds will Lot 15, Block 8, The Tablelands Subdivision April 23, 2005 Page Two be constructed parallel with the slope of the ground surface as much as possible in conformance with Municipal requirements.
