SUBJECT: Lot 17, Block 8, The Tablelands Subdivision Septic System Design The absorption system serving Lot 17, Block 8, The Tablelands has been modified to include a 15' wide x 60' tong raised bed. The distribution piping will be placed at 1' above the existing ground surface. All organic material beneath the bed will be removed and replaced with coarse sand. Construction of the mound in this configuration will provide sufficient separation from anticipated high groundwater levels. Please review the attached documentation and call with any questions. ANDERSON ENGINEERING P.O. BOX 240773 ANCHORAGE, AK 99524 522-7773 522-6779 FAX July 20, 2005 Municipality of Anchorage Development Services Department On -Site Water and Wastewater Program 4700 South Bragaw Street Anchorage, AK 99519-6650 Subject: Lot 17, Block 8, The Tablelands Subdivision Septic System Design and Permit Application Impacts to Adjacent Properties Dear Onsite Services Engineer. The owner of Lot 17, Block 8, The Tablelands Subdivision intends to construct a four- bedroom home on the lot. Groundwater and soil conditions in the area are such that we are proposing to install an Advantex Septic Treatment System for a four-bedroom home on the property. The attached Site Plan and backup documentation identify the location and configuration of the new septic system and alternate site and the parameters used in the design. Also identified on the plans are the location of the surface drainage, test holes and water service on the lot. The system will not conflict with those on the surrounding lots. Drainage arrows and spot elevations are shown indicating the current drainage patterns. The drainage patterns will be maintained after construction. The test holes placed on this lot revealed silty sand with some gravel. The percolation rate in the material ranged from 40 minutes to 60 minutes per inch. Groundwater was recently noted at 6.5' below the surface. We are therefore proposing to place a four- bedroom Advantex Treatment System. The terrain of the lot is such that gravity flow from the filter to the absorption trenches is not possible and a second lift station will be required. The absorption bed will be 60' long x 15' wide for a total absorption area of 600 square feet. The distribution line in the bed will be placed 1' above the existing ground level. A minimum of T of cover will be placed atop the trenches and 4' of cover over the septic tank. The ground surface on the lot slopes as shown on the site plan from southwest to northeast at shallow slopes. The absorption trenches will be constructed parallel with the slope as much as possible in conformance with Municipal requirements. All Lot 17, Block 8, The Tablelands July 20, 2005 Page Two components of the new septic system will be constructed a minimum of 100' from any surface water and 10' from the water service on this and adjacent lots. If the system is constructed in accordance with our design the following statements apply: 1. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on the wells in the area or those to be constructed in the future. 2. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on existing septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the future. 3. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on reserve space, either surface or subsurface, on any lots located in the area. 4. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on drainage patterns in the area. The current drainage pattern will be maintained. Sincerely, Michael E. Anderson, P.E. A second lift station will also be required. The new system will be placed at the location shown on the Site Plan. The new septic system also includes the construction of a new 60' long X 15' wide absorption bed at the location also shown on the Site Plan and at the configuration shown. The distribution line in the bed will be placed at 1' above the existing ground surface. Coarse sand will be required to raised the bed to the required elevation. All organics must be removed and replaced with sand under the bed. Topsoil and seed will be required on the top and outside 6" of the completed bed. The new system must be placed a minimum of 10' from the water service on the lot and those on adjacent lots and 100' from any surface water located near or on the lot. 2. Construction shall be in accordance with the approved site plan, design drawings, Municipal Permit with any special provisions or conditions, and all applicable State and Municipal Wastewater Disposal Regulations. 3. The Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining all underground utility locates and for the layout of the septic system and verification of the location of all lot lines. 4. Unless specifically agreed otherwise, the contractor shall be responsible for final grading areas subsequently depressed from soil settling. Property owner shall be responsible for revegetation of affected areas unless specifically agreed otherwise. 5. Contractors installing wastewater disposal systems must be certified by the Municipal Department of Health and Human Services for system installations. Owners installing their own systems must receive prior approval from D.H.H.S. before beginning system installation. SEPTIC TANK INSTALLATION 1. The Advantex Treatment System must be installed in conformance with specifications and regulations furnished by the manufacturer, Lot 17, Block 8, The Tablelands July 20, 2005 Page 2 of 4 Anchorage Tank and Orenco Systems Incorporated. No variances from the manufacturer's specifications will be allowed without permission from the manufacturer and Municipal representatives. 2. A septic tank is to be constructed by a certified septic tank manufacturer. Construction shall include two 4" cleanouts for pumping access. 3. The septic tank shall be sufficiently bedded to prevent settling or shifting of the tank. 4. All standpipes on the septic tank shall extend a minimum of 12 inches above final grade. 5.
