Box 102954 ige, Alaska, 99510 I am writing to request that a permit to construct an upgrade septic system be issued for this property. The proposed systems will serve an existing two-bedroom house. The lot is currently developed and is served by a private water system. 1. Soils. See the attached soils log. Three test holes were excavated during the investigation process and are attached. Ground water was observed to a depth of 1 foot in the test holes. Bedrock was not encountered in the test holes. The soils encountered were saturated peats and blue -till clays. I was unable to perform a percolation test due to the saturated nature of the soils. Past experience with these soils have shown that they percolate at a rate greater that 120 min/inch. Combined with high ground water, I do not know of an approved system that can be installed on this lot, other than a holding tank. Surface Water Waiver. There is surface water within 50 feet of the proposed system. There is a drainage ditch along the south side of Jamie Drive that is located approximately 47 feet from the proposed holding tank location. Over flowing sewage would travel to the southwest away from the drainage ditch. A berm will be constructed between the holding tank and the ditch to ensure the water flows southwest. 4. Topography: The average topography in the area of the proposed septic system is approximately one percent to the southwest to a drainage on Lot 7A. The proposed installation will not affect the future development of the surrounding or existing lots. There are no wells or septic systems within 100 feet of the proposed septic location.
