BOX 240773 ANCHORAGE, AK 99524 MEMORANDUM DATE: October 24, 2005 TO: Julie Makela, P.E. FROM: Mike Anderson, P.E. SUBJECT: Lot 7A, Block 5, Tablelands Subdivision Certificate of Health Authority Approval The septic system serving the subject lot was upgraded to a four-bedroom system from its previous three-bedroom status. The certified as -built of the upgrade is attached. All work was completed under the original permit and was completed within 1 year of its origination date. The system is now eligible of heath authority certification for a four- bedroom home. Please let me know if you have any questions. ANDERSON ENGINEERING P.O. BOX 240773 ANCHORAGE, AK 99524 MEMO DATE: 1/1012005 TO: Joe Goodall WITH: MoA/On-Site Water and Wastewater FROM: Mike Anderson SUBJECT: Lot 7, Block 5, Tablelands Subdivision Well and Septic System Permit No. SWO40248 Revised Septic System Design Attached is a new Site Plan for Lot 7, Block 5, Tablelands Subdivision. The absorption system has been modified to accommodate a four-bedroom home. The existing 1,000 gallon septic tank will be removed and replaced with a new 1,250 gallon tank. In addition, the absorption trenches will each be extended 18'. This extension will place the east end of the southern trench within 1' of the lot line. A lot line waiver request is attached. An additional test hole and percolation test will be submitted with the as -built to verify soil conditions at the west end of the new absorption trenches. Please modify the existing septic system permit to allow the placement of the revised system. ANDERSON ENGINEERING P.O. Bragaw Street Anchorage, AK 99507 Attention: Joe Goodall Subject: Lot 7, Block 5, Tablelands Subdivision Lot Line Waiver Dear Joe: The owner of the subject lot wants to upgrade the existing septic system to serve a four- bedroom home. The system was only recently placed and is located at the best area of the lot for effluent absorption. The trenches will be lengthened in both the eastern and western direction. The eastern leg will be constructed at 1' from the east property line. We therefore request a lot line waiver be issued allowing the construction of the absorption trenches at this location. The subdivision is served by a community water system and no conflicts exist with the community wells in the subdivision. Similarly, no conflicts exist with septic systems on the adjacent lot. We therefore recommend the lot line waiver be issued allowing construction of the absorption trenches to within 1' of the eastern property line. Sincerely, cm'_ cja Michael E. We are therefore requesting a permit be issued for the construction of a new septic system to serve the new home. The subdivision is served by a community water system and no conflicts exist with adjacent septic systems or wells. The attached Site Plan and backup documentation identify the location and configuration of the proposed septic system and alternate site. The water service line is also shown. The current drainage pattern along with spot elevations are identified on the Site Plan. The drainage pattern will be maintained after development of this lot is complete. A test hole recently placed on the lot indicated silty sand and gravel in the area of the absorption trench. The accepting soils were tested and found to have a percolation rate of 13 minutes per inch. Seepage was noted at 6' below the surface with water accumulation at 7'. During the monitoring period, however, the groundwater level was found at 6'. Our design includes the placement of a new 1,000 -gallon septic tank along with 2 - 57' long by 5' wide with no effective depth absorption trenches to collect and treat the sewage generated in the house. The bottom of the trenches will be 1' below the surface. A flow splitter valve will be placed to assure even flow to each trench. The distribution pipe will be 1' below the surface. A minimum of 3' of cover will be placed atop the trenches and a minimum of 4' of cover will be placed atop the new septic tank. The ground surface on the lot slopes at shallow grades from north to south as shown on the Site Plan. The absorption trench will be constructed parallel with the slope of the ground surface as much as possible in conformance with Municipal requirements. The Lot 7A, Block 5, Tablelands July 3, 2004 Page Two new septic system will be constructed a minimum of 10' from the water service proposed for the lot and on adjacent lots. It will also be constructed a minimum of 100' from any surface water in the area. If the system is constructed in accordance with our design the following statements apply: 1. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on the wells in the area or those to be constructed in the future. 2. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on existing septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the future. 3. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on reserve space, either surface or subsurface, on any lots located in the area. 4. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on drainage patterns in the area. The current drainage pattern will be maintained. Sincerely, '✓1ti a E 0,4---dL, Michael E.
