Subject: Lot 31B Eagle River Valley Ranchetts S/D
Septic Tank Replacement Permit Request
Ladies and Gentlemen:
I am writing to request that a permit to install a new septic tank be issued for this property. The
system currently serves an e.istingfour-bedroom house. The lot is currently developed and is
served by a private water system.
1. Tank Replacement. The original 1250 -gallon septic tank was installed in 1cB5. It has
recently collapsed and is causing sewage to overflow and daylight onto the ground. The lot is
served by a community water system. See the attached site plan. The existing drain field was
inspected and found to be saturated. The original crib and leach line was excavated and found to
be dry. I propose reconnecting the old crib that is located on the property to the new septic tank
via a ball -type diverter valve.
2. Surface Water: There is no surface water within 100 feet of the proposed system.
3. Topography: The average topography in the area of the proposed septic system is
approximately 5 percent.
The proposed installation will not affect the future development of the surrounding or existing
lots. There are no wells or septic systems within 100 feet of the proposed septic location.

Dear Mr. Butera,
Your request for a waiver of the minimum separation distance
requirement between the water and sewer line has been granted.
This distance has been waived to five feet. This waiver is
conditional upon the installation of water tight or caulder couplings
on all joints on the sewer line to prevent contamination of the
water supply. The cleanout shall be located at least ten feet
from the water line. Final inspection of the septic system upgrade
should verify this construction.

I am requesting approval for an upgrade of an existing septic
system that has the water connection to the house 5' distance
to the sewer stub out (see attached plot plan). This is an exist-
ing
xisting problem and the line cannot be easily relocated as the entire
plumbing system is encased in the concrete basement slab. The
owner has agreed to move the septic tank because of the line
crossing it but the water or sewer line cannot be relocated with-
out great expense.
I am suggesting that the sewer line be replaced back as far as
possible, with PVC 3034 pipe, with caulder couplings on all joints
and the cleanout located more than 10' from the water line.
This should prevent any possible contamination of the water supply.
If you have any other suggestions to take care of this problem
or any concerns please contact me. I would like to get an approv-
al on this matter so that the system upgrade can take place.

A'sewer system adequacy test was performed on the system located
on the referenced property as you requested. The septic tank was
pumped and verified to have a capacity of 1000 gallons. The absorption
trench and old seepage pit was tested by a continuous flow of 608
gallons of water over a 24 hour period.
It can be concluded from this test that the waste water disposal system
serving the three bedroom residence located on this property is
currently functioning adequately. However, the system cannot be guaranteed
against subsequent failures.
