Box 196650 Anchorage, Alaska 99519-6650 Ref: TI 5N, R 1 W. Section 18, Lot 153. Waiver of Separation Distance between the Well on Property and the Septic System on the neighboring Property. The new four (4) bedroom house is served by a private well and septic system. The well was drilled in August of 2008 and was found to be encroaching on the septic system on lot 151 that was installed on October of 1983. We shot the separation distance with a Topcon total station and determined the separation distance between the well and the closest drainficld clean-out to be 88.78 feet. Attached is a site plan. Based upon the graphical drawing, it appears that the drainficld is as close as 87 feet from the well; therefore, we are requesting a separation distance waiver of 87 feet. Justification for the waiver is summarized as follows: • Recent water samples indicated nitrate levels as non-detectable and no bacteria to be present. • Attached is a well log for the subject property. The well is 260 feet deep. The first 95 feet of the well is drilled though a geological profile of sand, gravel, hardpan, and bedrock. • Attached arc well logs for a number of adjacent properties. The wells range from 82 feet deep to 120 feet deep. All of the wells arc below thick protective layers of sand, gravel, and/or hardpan. • The well head extends at least 18 inches above grade, has a sanitary seal, and has appropriate drainage around it. • Attached is a topography drawing of the area. The topography is such that overflowing wastewater from the septic tank would not flow towards the well. Based upon the aforementioned facts, it appears that there is minimal risk associated with granting the requested 87 feet waiver between the well and the septic tank. contact us at 337-6179. The well has been drilled and is shown on the attached drawing. The well is too close to the neighbors well and a waiver request is forthcoming to your office. We are proposing to install a 1500 gallon Greer/Quanics S.T.E.P. tank and dual 5 -wide trench type drainfields. A new test hole was excavated on the property. The drainfield will be designed around the 30 foot radius of this test hole. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1.
