A design was completed in October of 2019. For the 2019 design, the 2003 testhole was utilized. Prior to the install, the contractor (Bob Redmond) and engineer (David Garness, PE) met onsite to' pull a sieve analysis to determine if a sand filter was required. During that time, an attempt to locate the monitoring tube was made (with a backhoe) in the vicinity of a depression that was believed to be the old perk bench. The monitoring tube could not be located, therefore, a new testhole was excavated. The new 2020 testhole is significantly deeper than the 2003 testhole (18 feet vs 11 feet). Based upon the increased TH depth, the max depth for the proposed drainfield was revised to 12 feet. In addition, the design was revised to show that a sand filter is required, as the sieve analysis was completed and classified the soil as a GW. Please see attached 2020 soil log and revised design. We are unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems. If you have any questions, please contact us at 337-6179. Per conversations with the owner, the proposed home will be 3 bedrooms. We are proposing to install a new 1000 HDPE Greer Tank and shallow 5-wide type drainfields. Per the attached soil log, the percolation rate is <1 min/inch, however, the soils were visually classified as a GM or SM. A GM or SM does not require a sand filter.. We are proposing to install 2 feet of filter sand due to the percolation rate; however, on the design drawings, we are proposing that a sand filter can be omitted if a sieve analysis is provided showing a soil classification that does not require a sand filter in the MOA onsite code. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See attached 2003 testhole by Garness Engineering Group, Ltd. which shows the soil classifications, percolation test, and groundwater monitoring. Additionally, see comments regarding the sand filter in design narrative above. 2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications. 3. SURFACE WATERS: There are surface waters to the west; however, the proposed septic system is 100'+ from these waters. 4. TOPOGRAPHY: There are no topography concerns.
