The drainfield is in a state of failure and needs to be upgraded. We are proposing to utilize the existing 1500-gallon steel septic tank, install a flow diverter after the existing septic tank, and install dual 5-wide shallow trench type drainfields. One testhole was excavated and the drainfield is designed within its 30-foot radius. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See attached 2018 testhole which shows, soil classification, percolation test and groundwater monitoring. 2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications. 3. SURFACE WATERS: Per the MOA wetlands mapping there are wetlands on the lot to the north. During the excavation of the testhole, ponded surface water was noted approximately 25' north of the road. Per the MOA grid maps and as-built survey, the proposed drainfield is approximately 90 feet from the north side of the road. In short, the proposed drainfield is 100'+ to surface water on the date of the testhole excavation, however, it may encroach on surface water seasonally. In the event of an encroachment the effluent would have to navigate across two road-ditches and the road in order to reach the surface water. The possibility of this occurring is extremely unlikely. 4. TOPOGRAPHY: There are no topography concerns. See attached design drawings for topography information. We are unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems. If you have any questions, please contact us at 337-6179.
