Ladies and Gentlemen:
I am writing in to request a modification to Permit SW07,G2w200 The Owner has decided to keep the existing
structure on this property and to add onto it to make it tver bedroom single family residence. The reserve
field is located to close to the existing structures foundation. I have modified the design to move the reserve
field east to maintain ten foot clearance to the foundation. Unfortunately, the eastern portion of the reserve
field is located within five feet of the property line. I request your Department issue a lot -line waiver to four
feet for the reserve field. The lot east of this property is undeveloped. Issuing this waiver will not affect the
future development of Lot 19.
Design Parameters
1. Soils. The soils were investigated during April of 2007. Ground water was verified on May 15, 2007.
Ground water was found at 8.5 feet below ground level in the test holes. Bedrock was encountered in test
hole one at a depth of 9.5 feet. It is my opinion that the overall soils appearance of the soils, an application
rate of 2 gallons/day/square feet should be used using advanced treatment system and gravity flow to the
drain field.

3. Surface Nater: There is no surface water within 100 feet of the proposed system. The proposed
systems will maintain at least 100 feet from all surface water and drainage ditches.
4. Topography: Lot 20A slopes to the north at approximately 20 percent based on a survey conducted
in 2007. The proposed installation will be located in the southern portion of the lot, greater than 50 feet
from slopes greater than 25%.
The proposed installation will not affect the future development of the surrounding or existing lots. There
are no wells or septic systems within 100 feet of the proposed septic location.

I am writing in response to your comments concerning the issuance of a Permit to construct a new well and
septic system. Your pink sheet dated August 8, 2007 had one comment. I will respond that comments in the
same order it was presented.
Comment: Engineer may need more groundwater monitoring data to determine the high groundwater.
Response: PES has monitored the ground water from April 4, 2007 through the spring high ground water
monitoring period and all summer. On May 15, 2007, the traditional date of spring high water, the ground
water was monitored to be 8.5 feet below ground level. As you are aware, spring came late to the upper
hillside and on July 25, 2007 a water depth was measured at four feet (-4') below ground level. Since then
the ground water levels have dropped to a depth of five feet below ground on August 19, 2007. I believe the
high ground water occurred in the month of June when the ground water was monitored at a depth of four
feet below ground level. The proposed system will maintain four feet separation to the highest level of
ground water monitored.
