Robert Schafer, Sr., the engineer who designed the septic system at this lot and performed the
required construction inspections for the property, unfortunately passed on before he could finalize
the as -built drawings and close out the permit.
We have been asked by Mr. Schafer's son to take measurements and close out the permit. Although
we were not involved at the time of constructions, we have been able to verify the measurements
in the field along with our own elevations.

Foundation to Septic Tank Waiver
Dear On -Site Services Engineer:
In 2010, a new. septic system and tank were permitted for this property. However, during
construction, the tank was placed 3.5' to the foundation, closer than the 5' allowed by code at the
time. It appears this may have been done due to the tight space on the lot. The profile as -built
drawing illustrates the septic tank and its location in relation to the house foundation. As we did
not expose the footing, we do not know how far down it extends. We assume it extends just
underneath the pipe that we measured through the foundation cleanout. Even so, the influence line
of the footing and foundation when projected down at a 1:1 slope encroaches into the new septic
tank. However, as this septic tank has been in this location for several years now, it is unlikely
that the location of the tank will have any influence on the foundation. We hereby request a waiver
be issued allowing the septic tank to remain in its current location.

It is requested that you issue a permit to install a new 1000 gallon H.D.P.E. septic
tank and a 3 bedroom shallow trench septic system to serve the existing three
bedroom dwelling on the referenced property.
Two test holes were excavated and percolation tests performed by S & S Engineering. The
approximate locations of the test holes are located on the attached site plan. At the time of
excavation ,6/26/10, water was not found in either test hole #1 or #2. After seven days of
monitoring, ground water was not found. All surrounding lots are served by community
water and there is no wells within two hundred feet of proposed septic site.
We do not anticipate any adverse effects on neighboring wells, septic systems, reserve
areas or drainage patterns by the installation of the proposed septic system. The
construction of this system will not prevent any future development on any of the adjacent
properties.
