Septic System Design and Permit Application
Impacts to Adjacent Properties
Dear Onsite Services Engineer:
No septic tank is currently in place between the house and the cesspool on proposed
Tract A-lA, Keno Hills Subdivision, Addition No. 9. We are proposing to place a new
1,000 gallon septic tank in line between the house and construct a new absorption bed
to replace the cesspool. We are therefore requesting a permit be issued for the
construction of a new septic tank and absorption bed to serve the home. The attached
Site Plan and backup documentation identify the location and configuration of the new
septic tank, absorption bed and the existing cesspool. Also identified on the plans is
the existing well (water source) on the lot and on adjoining lots. A test hole, percolation
test and groundwater monitoring recently completed indicated groundwater at 7'. The
bottom of the cesspool is 9' deep and therefore encroaching into groundwater. The
cesspool will be collapsed in place and backfilled..
The new tank and absorption bed will be placed outside the 100' protective radius of
the well (water source) on the lot and the proposed wells on the adjacent lots. The test
hole recently placed indicated gravel with some silt (GWIGM) at shallow depths. The
material percolated at rates between I and 5 minutes per inch. Groundwater was
found at 7' below the surface and stabilized at that level. We are therefore proposing to
place a new 1,000 gallon septic tank with a 15' wide by 30' long absorption bed. The
depth of the bed will vary from 2.5' at the east end and 1.5' at the west end as the bed
will be constructed on a 7% slope. The bottom of the bed will be a minimum of 5'
above the groundwater level. A minimum of 4' of fill will be placed over the septic tank
and 3' over the absorption bed. The outer 6" of the mound will be revegetated with
topsoil and seed or other vegetation to prevent erosion.

The ground surface on the lot slopes to the west at a 7% grade in the area of the new
bed at the south end. The slope is less steep at the north end. The new septic tank
and absorption bed will be constructed as parallel with the slope of the land as possible
in conformance with Municipal requirements.
If the septic system is constructed in accordance with our design the following
statements apply:

The septic system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on
the wells in the area or those to be constructed in the future.
The septic system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on
existing septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the future.
The septic system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on
reserve space, either surface or subsurface, on any lots located in the area.
The septic system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on
drainage patterns in the area. The current drainage pattern will be maintained.
