Dear Mr. Johnson:
Transmitted herein in accordance with your'instructions are
the results of the'above referenced investigation as performed
by us on Marqh 10 a~d 11, 1976. The scope of this project
is investigation for suitability of an on-site sewerage
system. Included in this transmittal are':

The exploration was conducted using a track mounted ~obile
Drill model B-50 drill r~ with a continuous flight solid
stem auger. The rig is dwned and operated by Denali Drilling,
'Inc. Drilling was supervised, the test holes logged and the
percolation test run by Mr. Terry Barber.
Two test holes were placed at the approximate locations shown
on the Figure 1. The logs of these test holes are included as
Table A of this report. In interpreting the log it would be helpful
to utilize the explanatory information contained in Sheets I to
3 of this report.
When drilling was compieted a 3/4" slotted PVC pipe was inserted
in the hole to aid in determining the free water level. For~
the percolation test, the test hole was filled with water and
left overnight to saturate. On returning the hole was refilled
with water and the drop ~n the water level carefully monitored
over the next 60 minutes.
This procedure is not a standardized percolation test, how-
e~r, we understand that the Anchorage Department of Environ-
mental Quality prefers tests performed in th'is manner'to
evaluate a site for a proposed on-site sewerage system.

Using the above test, the observed minimum perco!ation rate
was 2.5 minutes/inch for test hole 1 and 5.0 minutes~inch for
test hole 2.
We hope this report meets your present needs. If we can be
of further service, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Very truly yours,

Test Hole and Soil Log Report for Sanitary System
Lot 3, Block 1, Birch Hills Estates
Dear Mr. Nugent:
We are submitting herewith the test boring results and our
continents regarding soil conditions encountered at the subject
site. This investigation was performed in accordance with your
request of July 7, 1973, and those procedures outlined in a
letter dated September 13, 1971 by Mr. Rolf Strickland of the
Greater Anchorage Area Borough Department of Environmental
Quality.
A single test hole was put down Within the Lot 3 area for the
purpose of defining general subsurface soil conditions for the
proposed sanitary system. Excavation was accomplished with a
tractor-mounted backhoe and the test hole was extended to a
total depth of 7 feet below ground surface. The final log
prepared for the test hole has been included in DYawing A-01.
Ground water was not encountered in the test hole~.
We appreciate being given this opportunity to be of service
to you. Should you have any questions with regard to the
above, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Re:
Subsurface Investigation - Lot 3, Blk 1, Birch Hills
Estates, Addition No. 1
Dear Mr. Johnson:
This report is an addendum to our report dated March 16,
1976, and previously sent to you. It covers a third test
hole placed in the northern portion of the lot. It is about
50 feet west of Dee Lane and 100 feet south of the north
boundary of the lot. .~
The hole was placed on March 31, 1976, using a Mobile Drill
B-50 drill rig mounted on a Flextrac-Nodwell tracked vehicle
owned and operated by Denati Drilling Inc. The drilling was
supervised and the test hole logged by Mr. Terry Barber,
staff geologist with Alaska Testlab.
We were unable to run a percolation test in the hole. We
·placed over 100 gallons of water in the hole and could not
get the water level above seven feet. We could not run a
mechanical analysis of the soil either, because we could not
obtain a representative sample off the auger flights.
Using an assumed percolation rate of no more than 3 min./inch
would be quite conservative.
No water table was encountered during drilling. The water
table will fluctuate, though, with seasonal and climatic
changes.
Very truly yours,
