Septic System Design and Permit Application Renewal
Permit Number OSP 111121
Dear Onsite Services Engineer:
We are hereby requesting the well and septic system permit for Lot 2, Block 2,
Turnagain Park Subdivision No. 2 be renewed for a second year. All provisions of the
original design remain the same with the exception that the subsurface soil materials
near the front of the lot were found to be much cleaner and more conducive for the
development of a septic system. A recent test hole revealed silty gravel with sand to a
depth of 17'. No groundwater was found and none has developed during the
monitoring period. The percolation rate of the soil is 5 minutes per inch.
The existing well on the lot will be decommissioned in accordance with Municipal Code.
The new well will be placed 87' from the adjacent absorption trench on Lot 1 which is
nearly 20' further than the previous well location. The new septic system location is
much more efficient than the original plan. The alternate site will remain at the original
location.
If the system is constructed in accordance with our revised design the following
statements apply:
1. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on the wells
in the area or those to be constructed in the future.
2. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on existing
septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the future.
3. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on reserve
space, either surface or subsurface, on any lots located in the area.

Absorption Trench to Lot Line
Dear On Site Services Engineer:
The new septic system absorption trenches proposed for construction on Lot 2, Block 2,
Turnagain Park Subdivision No. 2 will be placed 1.5' from the southeast lot line and 4.5'
from the northwest lot line In addition, the septic tank will be 4' from the southeast lot
lien. The new system is more than 10' from the neighboring system and meets all
separation distance requirements. The lot is small and fronted on the northwest by the
Old Seward Highway right of way. The entire system will be more than 100' from all
private wells in the area. We therefore recommend the lot line waiver be issued as
described above.

Separation Distance Waiver Well to Absorption Trench
Dear On Site Services Engineer:
Lot 2, Block 2, Turnagain Subdivision No. 2 along with the lots on either side are only 100' in
width. The well on the lot to the northwest was placed in the middle of the lot apparently with
little regard to the effect of the 100' setback on Lot 2. In addition, the septic system on Lot 1
was placed without regard to the location of a possible well on Lot 2. Very little area remains on
Lot 2 for the placement of both a well and septic system making the lot undevelopable without a
waiver from the well on Lot 2 to the absorption trench on Lot 1. The well is currently located 87'
from the closest edge of the absorption trench. We are therefore requesting a waiver be issued
allowing the well to remain in its proposed location so the lot can be developed.
We anticipate the well will be approximately133' deep with casing the entire depth based on the
depths of wells already in place in the subdivision. The well will be drilled through what appears
to be very dense silt with gravel and sand the entire depth. Test holes on the lot indicate nearly
impervious material for the first 10'. Soils from 10' to 24' were found to percolate at rates
approximating 60 minutes per inch. The aquifer level is anticipated to be at least 93' below the
ground level where the pump will be placed. The intake to the pump will probably be found
more than 117' below the bottom elevation of the septic tank.
The absorption trench on Lot 1 is served by a Biocycle Tank, which is considered a Category II
Wastewater Treatment System and is much more effective in the treatment of septic effluent
prior to disposal to the environment than a standard septic system. In most cases the effluent
from a Biocycle Tank contains less than 10% of the contaminants that can be expected from a
standard septic tank.
The original ground surface on the lot slopes away from the well and toward the septic tank at
an approximate 10% slope. The original topography of the lot will be contoured with the
construction of the house and the well head will be contoured for any surface water to drain
away. The ground elevation at the absorption trench is approximately 20' lower than the well

head. We assume the water gradient slopes away from the well at a slope similar the original
ground surface.
Water samples will be taken from the well once it is drilled to determine whether contamination
from any source in the area is occurring. We are confident the Biocycle system will have no
impact on the quality of the water to be produced on Lot 2 for several reasons. The first and
primary being the treatment from the tank itself before the effluent is discharged to the
environment. We are also confident sufficient dense soil exists between the bottom of the
absorption trench and the aquifer to prevent contamination from occurring.
