RE: SEPTIC SYSTEM UPGRADE PERMIT
LEGAL: MOUNTAIN AIR ESTATES #1 BLOCK 6, LOT 4
The property owner has requested we obtain a permit to upgrade the failed septic field of the
above referenced lot. We propose to remove all biomat material of the existing 2 trenches, add
MOA sand as needed, install three shallow trenches and confirm the integrity of the existing
1000-gallon tank to serve the existing 3 -bedroom residence.
The design is based on the MOA record test holes conducted by Jeff A. Garness, PE (GEG) on
July 24, 2012. No groundwater was observed at test hole excavation but was observed at 12’ at
monitoring. The soils rating of the percolation rate was 0.8 GPD/SF. To be more conservative, a
0.6 GPD/SF rate was used for this septic upgrade. Area lots show soil rates of 0.8 with greater
install depths than this proposed design.
The slopes are moderate at 0-10% at the proposed upgrade location. The lot and area are served
by private water. The design will not impact any of the neighboring properties. Please contact

To whom it may concern:
The referenced property is currently vacant. The owner is proposing to build a 3 bedroom house that will
be served by a private well and septic system. We are proposing to install a 1250 gallon S.T.E.P. tank and
dual deep trench type drainfield. Attached are a site plan and a design drawing showing the proposed
septic system. Two test holes were excavated on the property. The drainfield will be designed around the
30 foot radius of test hole #2. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows:
1. SOILS: See the attached logs which show the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the
percolation test results.
2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications.
3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface water concerns.
4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached topography drawing there are no slope concerns.
We are unaware ofAy adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems.

In conducting this evaluation, GEG, Lf). attempted to provide a thorough,
conscientious engineering analysis of the system in accordance with ADEC and MGA
DSD Guidelines B Regulations. The reported results described the performance of the
system under the conditions encountered at the time of the test, and separation
distances measured to readily identifiable features. The operational life of all wells and
septic systems depend on the local soils condition, groundwater levels that may
fluctuate during the year, and the water usage of the family befog seared by the system.
These conditions are outside the control of the evaluator of the system. Satsfactory test
results do not guarantee future performance of the system, nor do they guarantee that
there are no hidden defects or encroachments. GEG, LTD. can therefore not provide
any warranty or future estimate of how long the system will continue to meet the
operational requirements of the ADEC or MOA DSD. The content of this report is for
the sole benefit of the owner listed above. Any reliance upon or use of this report by any
other person or party is not authorized, nor will it confer any legal right whatsoever.
