The attached paperwork has been reviewed and is being returned for the following reasons:
Because comments 1 and 2 appeared likely to incur significant design changes, the first review
was not completed. The comments are now based on a complete review.
1. SATISFIED Drainfield Waiver Request - 4 Foot to Bedrock: It appears the drainfield could be
constructed to provide the code required 6 foot vertical separation from bedrock. The waiver
request for a 4 foot drainfield to bedrock vertical separation distance is denied. Please revise the
design as needed to provide at least 6 feet of vertical separation between the bottom of the
drainfield and bedrock.
2. NOT SATISFIED Proposed Well: The application appears to be revised to include a proposed
well. Please pay the $200 well permit fee.
3. Waiver Fee: Please pay the $200 fee associated with the slope waiver request.
4. Revised Cover Letter: Please sign the revised cover letter.
5. AWWTS Maintenance Agreement: Please provide an original of the AWWTS
maintenance agreement beadng the owner's notarized signature.
6. Mound Vegetation: The design calls for topsoil and seeding the mound, but is quiet concerning
vegetation. Please include requirements for the mound to be vegetated sufficiently to prevent
erosion.

Ref: Revised Proposed Well and Septic System fo'- r R. Miller Subdivision;
Lot 3
The proposed 4 bedroom house will be served by a private well and septic system. Attached are a site plan and
design drawings showing the proposed well and septic locations. Due to the shallow bedrock and the steep slopes
over the majority of the property, we are proposing to install a 1500 gallon S.T.E.P. tank with Quanics
controls/floats, a 650 Aerocell unit, and 5-wide ttench type drainfield. The drainfield will be designed around the 30
foot radii of the subdivision test holes performed by Eagle River Engineering which are on file at the MOA.
Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows:
SOILS: See the attached logs which show the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test
results.
DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications.
SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100 feet of the proposed septic system.
TOPOGRAPHY AND WAIVER REQUEST: As can be seen on the attached topography map and design
drawing, the topography in the area of the drainfleld is a 15-20 percent slope running approximately southeast to
northwest. Due to the mound of the proposed drainfield, the area below the drainfield is to be filled and graded to
less than 25 percent, 50 feet dow~xhill from the primary site and 35 feet from the alternate site. We request a 35 foot
waiver fi'om the alternate site to a slope greater than 25 percent.
We are unaware ofm~y adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacant wells or septic systems. If you have

Ref: Proposed Well and Septic System for R. Miller Subdivision; Lot 3
The proposed 4 bedroom house will be served by a private well and septic system. Attached are a site
plan and design drawings showing the proposed well and septic locations. Due to the shallow bedrock and
the steep slopes over the majority of the property, we are proposing to use an advanced wasrewater
system. The design shows that we are proposing to use a Quanics Aerocell treamaent system and 5-wide
trench type dminfield. As can be seen on design, we are proposing to use a category III application rate.
We anticipate the Quarries Aerocell treatanent system to obtain this approval by the end of February of
2008. Our client is not proposing to install the system till the spring of 2008. If the Quanics Aerocell
system does not receive category III approval by this time, an Advantex system will be installed instead.
Please make a provision on the permit stating that an approved Catergory III advanced wastewater system
is required for tkis property. The drainfield will be designed around the 30 foot radii of the subdivision
test holes performed by Eagle River Engineering which are on file at the MOA. Comments regarding the
design are summarized as follows:

approximately southeast to northwest. Due to the mound of the proposed drainfield, the area below the
drainfled is to be filled and graded to less than 25 percent, 50 feet downhill from the primary site and 35
feet from the alternate site. We request a 35 foot waiver from the alternate site to a slope greater than 25
percent.
WAIVER REQUEST TO BEDROCK: We request the 6 foot separation from the bottom of the
proposed drainfield to bedrock be waived to 4 feet. The following are mitigation factors for this waiver
request:
· We are proposing to use a Category III nitrogen removing wastewater system for this installation~
The effluent is tfighly treated and this system is monitored remotely and maintained throughout
the year. This insures the system will operate as needed to insure effluent quality.
· We are proposing to use a sand fiker in the drainfield to insure effluent quality.
· The closet well downhill of the proposed drainfield is 250+ feet away.
