Well and Septic System Permit Request
Ladies and Gentlemen:
I am writing to request a permit to install a septic system be issued for this property. The proposed
systems will serve a proposed four (4) bedroom house. Currently the lot is developed, but the existing
house and any existing septic system encountered will be removed or abandoned per code before the
proposed development is started. The existing well will remain. A 1250g septic tank and drain field will
be installed. The surrounding developed lots are also served by private wells. There are no wells within
100 feet of this system.
1. Soils. Two test holes were excavated by Garness Engineering Group in May of 2013, and the
ground water monitored for seven days. Water was not encountered in the test hole after the seven day
monitoring period. Bedrock was not encountered in the test hole. It is my opinion, based on the results of
the percolation tests and overall soils appearance; an application rate of i gallons/day/square feet should
be used for a conventional wastewater system with a 2' sand filter.

Soil Absorption System Design.
a. See Sheet 2 of the design package.
3. Surface Water: There is no surface water within 100 feet of the proposed septic tank and drain
field. The proposed drain field upgrade will maintain at least 100 feet from all surface water and drainage
ditches.
4. Topography: The existing topography slopes from northeast to southwest at approximately 20% -
25% in the area of the proposed drain field, with a slope of approximately 28% immediately downhill of
the proposed system. See waiver request.
5. Waiver Request: The ground below the proposed drain field slopes to the southwest at

approximately 28%. The drain field will be installed to a depth where a 4:1 infiltration line beginning 2'
above the top of the distribution pipe on the downhill side of the trench will not daylight within 41' of the
trench (see section on sheet 2 of 3). The soil on this lot has a percolation rate faster than i minute per
inch and it is not likely that the effluent will travel anywhere near 4 feet horizontally for every foot it
travels vertically and therefore will not daylight on this slope. I request a waiver of the minimum distance
to this slope. Granting this waiver will not affect the health or safety of this lot or any surrounding lot now
or in the future.
6. Drawing Markings: The Drawings are marked "For MoA Review Only". When written notification
that the review is complete and that there are no further comments is received from MoA On-Site
Department, the note will be removed and "Issued for Construction" drawings will be issued.
The proposed installation will not affect the future development of the surrounding or existing lots. There
are no wells or septic systems within 100 feet of the proposed septic location.
