Ref: Response to Submittal Comment Sheet for Eagle Crest #1; Tract A, Lot 1
To whom it may concern:
The following is the comments made by the departments review and our response to those comments:
1. The "GP to SP" cannot act as a sand filter — We are proposing to use the underlying, unsaturated SP-
S. soil to serve as the "sand filter".
2. There is no structural concerns regarding the separation of the field to the slab patio. Please provide
structural justification for the 6'separation between the sono -tube and trench" - Please use the note used
for Meadow Brook Subdivision, B3, L8B (permit # OSP131226) regarding "deck support integrity".
3. The "SP-SM"stratum has not been perc'd — The upper soil was perc'd at less than I minute per inch,
allowing for an application rate of 1.2 CTPD/SF. The SP -SM soil was not perc'd, but it is reasonable to
believe that the percolation rate would fall somewhere close to a pure SP soil, given the fact that the
percent of fines passing the #200 sieve was only 7.4%. If it had been less than 5%, it would have been
classified as an SP soil, with an ADEC specified application rate (see attached chart) of 1.0 gpd/sf. A pure
SM soil (a sand with greater than 12" passing the #200 sieve) would have an ADEC specified application
rate of 0.55 gpdtsf. The average application rate for and SP and a SM would be 0.77 gpdtsf; however, in
this particular case it is reasonable to believe that the soil (with only 7.4% passing the #200 sieve) will
"behave" more closely to a pure SP soil than a pure SM soil. In short, it is reasonable to believe that the
SP -SM soil will have a percolation rate within the 1-15 minute/inch range, which corresponds to an
application rate of 0.8 to 1.2 gpd/sf. Based upon our visual observation of the soil, it is reasonable to
believe it would perk at less than 5 minutes/inch. Regardless, the average percolation rate for the upper and
lower soil profiles ((1.2 + 0.8)/2) is 1.0 gpd/sf.

Ref: Proposed Septic System Upgrade for Eagle Crest #1; Tract A, Lot 1
To whom it may concern:
The existing 4 bedroom house is served by public water and a private septic system. The exisintg septic
system is in a state of failure and needs to be upgraded. We are proposing to install a 1250 gallon septic
tank and 5 -wide trench type drainfield. Attached are a site plan and a design drawing showing the
proposed septic system. Two test holes were excavated on the property. The drainfield will be designed
around the 30 foot radii of these test holes. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows:
1. SOILS: Seethe attached logs which show the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the
percolation test results. 9/19/2013 — Test hole #2 absorbed water as fast as it could be introduced with a 5
gallon jug. The percolation test was performed in a gravel pocket. The insitu sandy soils will act as a sand
filter. See the provided soil sample taken from 8 to 9 feet for MOA reference. See test hole #2 percolation
test for additional information on percolation test justification.
2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications.
3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface water concerns.
4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached site plan, the average topography below the
drainfield is 5-15% running north to south. There is a cutbank located 30 feet away from the proposed
drainfield (see waiver request).
5. SLOPE WAIVER: We are requesting a 30' waiver be granted from the proposed drainfield to the
cutbank. As can be seen on the attached drawing, at a 25% slope (starting 2.5 feet above the drainfield)
the potential point of daylighting is greater than 50' horizontally from the bed.
We are unaware ony adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems.
