Box 196650 Anchorage, Alaska 99519-6650 RE: Dawn 102 Subject: Permit Request — Design Narrative Dear Mr. Crewdson: The owner of the above referenced lot is proposing a 3 -bedroom single-family residence. We are requesting a plan review and a permit to install septic system to serve the proposed development. The lot is served by a public water system. Soils One test hole was excavated and two percolation tests were performed by Alaska Rim Engineering, Inc. on October 23, 2013. The approximate location of the test hole is located on the attached site plan and is identified as TH #1. The soils were visually rate GP -GM poorly graded gavel with silt. Percolation test were performed to verify the percolation rate see percolation test sheets. The percolation were excavated on either side of the test hole see site plan for location. On October 31, 2013, the test hole was measure and no groundwater was observed. Topography The site has a about a 5- foot bank coming off the road right of way then flattens out to create a bench where the house and proposed septic system will be located. The area around the septic field is sloped toward the north east away from the septic field. Drain Field Design The dwelling proposed is a three-bedroom with an estimated daily wastewater flow rate of 450 gallons per day. The proposed wastewater application rate from the perk test is 0.8 gal/day/sft. The required absorption area is 562 square feet. Proposed is a wide drain field (five wide) with 48 -inches of gravel and a length of 112 feet. The reduction factor for a wide drain field with 48 -inches below the pipe is ALASKA RIM ENGINEERING, INC Dawn 102 Charles A. Leet 0.5, therefore the constructed length drain field will be 58 feet. Enclosed are drawings of the proposed system. Surrounding Properties There are no water wells within 200 feet of the proposed septic system. This property and its neighboring lots are on public water. Surface Waters There is no surface water within 100 feet of the proposed development. We do not anticipate any adverse effects on the neighboring, septic systems, reserve areas or drainage patterns by the installation of the proposed septic system.
