This system is one that failed in approximately two years.
Repair excavator - Hill Excavation

Upon digging up the system to repair it, we found
that the original contractor most probably had not padded
the pi~e before backfilling and broke a short section of
line between the septic tank and the seepage pit. It also
caused the line to loose the proper grade. This did not
stop the system from draining into the seepage pit though.
When the area around the concrete rings was dug it was found
that the effluent had not go~e more than 4 to 5 feet out of
the concrete rings. It had not actually reached the walls
of the seepage p~t. The original backfill had too high of
a fines content to allow good drainage.
To repair the system the contractor(HillExc.) removed
the original backfill and replaced the material with 1/2"
to 2 1/2" screened rock. He also added perforated pipe and
widened the pit. This pipe extended approximately 25ft.
parallel to the inlet pipe for the rings, and about 5¢t.
south of the centerline of the original seepage pit. Our
soil samples showed the soil to be at the 250sq.ft. level.

Subject: Adequacy Test on Sanitary Sewer System, Lot 5, Block 8,
Zodiak Manor Subdivision
Dear Mr. Clepic:
On September 23, 1977, at your request, we conducted a test of the
septic system on the subject lot.
During the test, the liquid level in the septic tank was monitored
through the standpipe as water was added to the system. The following
table summarizes the measurements.

The meter
which had
used during the test was a Rockwell 5/8" standard water meter
previously been calibrated by R&M Consultants, Inc.
The drawdown measurements indicate that the system accepted an average
of 2.33 gallons of water per minute during the test, with a minimum
acceptance rate of 0.66 gallons per minute.
Since the house on the property wa~ occupied, it can be assumed that the
leach field was at its normal degree of saturation.
Assuming that the existing three-bedroom residence will house six people,
the average load on the system can be expected to be 0.31 gallons per
minute. We conclude that the system in question is accepting effluent
at an adequate rate for a three-bedroom house.
