Soil mottling (an indication that ground water has been higher than we observed) was noted at the 7 foot depth. That is why the new field must be shallow. 4. I suggest that you completly bypass the existing crib or, alternately, connect the new field to the septic tank outfall between the tank and crib leaving the crib hooked up. I believe a satisfactory leach field can be obtained with proper, design and installation but your entire family should be made aware that proper water saving techniques extend the life of any on-site sewage disposal system.
