All construction must be in accordance with: 1. The attached approved design.
2. All requirements specified in Anchorage Municipal code Chapters 15.55 and 15.65 and the State of Alaska Wastewater
Disposal Regulations (18AAC72) and Drinking Water Regulations (18AAC80).
3. The wastewater code requires inspections during the installation. The engineer must notify the Development Services
Department at least 2 hours prior to each inspection. Provide notification by calling (907) 343~7904 (24 hours).
4. From October 15 to April 15, a subsurface soil absorption system under construction during freezing weather must either:
A. Open and Close on the same day.
B. Covered, sealed, and heated to prevent freezing.

Ref: Proposed Well and Septic System for Eklutna Heights; Block 1, Lot 9A (East
Portion)
To whom it may concern:
The referenced property is proposed to have a 6 bedroom duplex built on and to be
served by a private well and septic system. The proposed well is to be drilled as shown
on the site plan and we are requiring the well location to be staked due to the limited
area on the property for a well and septic system. I regards to the septic system, we are
proposing that a new 2000 gallon septic tank and a dual bed type drainfields with sand
filters be installed. A test hole was excavated on the property and we are proposing an
additional confirmation test hole be excavated at the time of construction. During the
excavation of the test hole, we did encounter an old abandoned log crib. The crib did
not appear to have any biomat in or around it. We did have the excavator remove all the
log cribs at that time and backfill with native gravel. The drainflelds will be designed
around the 30 foot radii of test hole #1 and the proposed confirmation test holes.
Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows:
1. SOILS: See the attached log which shows the soil classifications, groundwater
monitoring, and the percolation test results.
2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications.
3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100 feet of the proposed
septic system.
4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached design drawing the topography
around the drainfield is relatively flat. There are no road ditches deeper than 2 feet
within 50 feet of the proposed drainfields. In short, there are no slope concerns.

5. LOT LINE WAIVER: As can be on the attached design drawing, we are requesting
a 1 foot lot line waiver to the North, East, and West lot lines to the proposed drainfields.
The properties lines are adjacent to the developed road right of ways. It is our opinion
that there is minimal risk with the granting of these waivers.
We are unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells
or septic systems. If you have any questions, please contact us at 337-6179. Thank
