Per the owner's request, the septic system is to be sized for 4 bedrooms. Two test holes where excavated on the property and logged by Lars Spurkland, P.E.. The drainfield will be designed around the 30 foot radius of Spurkland test hole #1. We are proposing that a new 1250 gallon septic tank and a deep trench type drainfield be installed. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See the attached log which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test results. A sieve analysis was performed on the soil from test hole #I (see attached). Although the percolation rate is faster than 1 minute/inch, we are proposing to install a standard drainfield without a sand filter. We believe the insitu sandy soils (SP) will sufficiently protect the aquifer. 2. TRENCH DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications. 3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100+ feet of the proposed septic system. 4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached design drawing & plot plan, the average topography in the area of the proposed drainfield is approximately 10-15% running north to south.
