Box 196650 Anchorage, Alaska 99519 Subject: T15N, RlW, Sec 18, L177 Septic System Permit Request and Comments Ladies and Gentlemen: I am writing to request a permit to install a new septic system be issued for this property. The proposed systems will serve a proposed four (4) bedroom house. Currentlythe lot is undeveloped, with the exception of an existing well that was drilled as part of the subdivision development. The proposed system will utilize a 1500g tank and a mounded drain field. The surrounding developed lots are served by private wells. There are no wells on surrounding lots within 100 feet of this system and there are no septic systems installed on the surrounding lots within 100 feet of the existing well. Soils. We performed one test hole on this lot, and groundwater was monitored on 4/18/2014 and ground water was observed at five feet (S') below the surface in the test hole monitor tube. Bedrock was not encountered in the test hole. It is my opinion, based on the results of the soils tests and overall soils appearance; an application rate of 1.0 gallons/day/square feet should be used for a conventional wastewater system. Soil Absorption System Design. a. See Sheet 2of the design package. 2. Surface Water: There is no surface water within 100 feet of the proposed septic tank and drain field. The proposed drain field upgrade will maintain at leagt 100 feet from all surface water and drainage ditches. 3. Topography: The existing topography slopes from the north to south at approximately 2%-3% in the area of the proposed drain field. There are no steep slopes within 50' of the proposed drain field. The proposed drain field will maintain 50' separation to the road cut-slope adjacent to the downhill side of the lot. 4. Drawing Markings: The Drawings are marked "For MoA Review Only". The profile shows 1.5' of sewer rock. Is this correct? Yes. 6. The letter says that the surrounding lots are served by private wells but it appears that the lot to the south is not. Please address. The well on the lot located to the south was not documented, but due to the location of their drainfield and the minimum separation they would have to maintain, it must be located outside of the separation distance to the proposed septic system. 7. After the "Review Only" drawings have been reviewed and you are notified that there are no additional comments, the "For Construction" drawing must be submitted before the permit is issued. The permit won't be issued until the two sets of drawings have been compared. Ok 8. Show howthe effluent will be split.
