B. Covered, sealed, and heated to prevent freezing.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
I am writing to request a well & septic system installation permit for the above referenced
property. The lot is currently undeveloped. The proposed system is designed to serve a 5-
bedroom single-family residence. Soil logs, design calculations, a site plan, design drawings and
construction specifications are enclosed for your review.
Design Calcs: Groundwater was not observed (5/13/14)
Soil Rating. From Test hole 5/13/14

Required Area per Bedroom: 150/1.0 =150sq.ft.
Total area required: 150 x 5 = 750 sq.ft.
System: We are proposing a 1500 gallon septic tank followed by a deep trench absorption field.
The absorption field will be 60 feet long and 2 feet wide and contain 8 feet (960 sq.ft, effective)
of sewer rock.
Soils: Two test holes were excavated in 1996, by Tobben Spurkland, P.E.. We were unable to
locate the soils logs but the ground water monitoring tubes were still in place. These ground
water monitors were 16 and 12 feet deep, respectively. An additional test hole was excavated on
May 13, 2014. See the attached soil logs. Groundwater was not observed in any of the test holes.
A percolation rote of less than 1 minute per inch was observed inthe sand. A portion of the
drain field will extend into the silty, sandy gravel. Due to the depth of this soil stratum, a
percolation test was not conducted in this layer. A percolation rate of 5-15 minutes per inch was
estimated. The 5 feet of absorption area in the clean sand (150 Sq.ft. per bed room) provides an
absorption area of 600 sq.ft, which is sufficient for 4 bedrooms. The design assumes the 5th

bedroom willrequlre 188 sq.ft and then uses a safety factor of nearly 2 (360 ti. sq.) to control for
soil variability and the lack of percolation test data. A sand filter is not required because the
existing sand and silt will effectively filter the effluent.
Surface Water: There are no surface waters within one hundred feet of the proposed septic
system upgrade.
Topography: The ground surface slopes to the west at 5-10% grade. The proposed field will be
installed perpendicular to the slope
Waivers: None required
The installation of this septic system will not prevent wells and septic systems from being
installed on the adjacent lots. The proposed septic system will not change the general slope of
the area. Ponding and/or concentration of surface runoff will not result from this installation.
