Once these lot lines are flagged/staked, a mandatory site visit between the contractor and engineer will be performed to insure constructability of the proposed drainfield. A 0 -foot lot line waiver has already been granted for the old drainfield to the west lot line when the 2003 HAA was issued. The same person owns both Lots 50-A and Lots 50-8. Attached is an email from the owner of Lot 50B stating that she has no objection to the drainfield being 1 - foot from the shared lot line between these two lots. We are working for the buyer of Lot 50A and she will be taking care of any legal documents and coordination with the seller in regards to restoring any disturbed areas on Lot 50B. Regarding the south lot line waiver request, we are proposing the drainfield be installed 6 -feet from the south lot line which will allow for 8 -foot separation between the drainfield on Lot 50F and the proposed drainfield. Both are bed type drainfields which require 6 -foot horizontal separations. In short, we are unaware of any adverse effects with granting the lot line waivers. ® Regarding the 3 -foot drainfield to existing tank waiver, the percolation rates in the area are <1 minute/inch. Given these soils condition, downward migration of the effluent is anticipated, and minimal lateral (horizontal) migration is expected. In short, we believe there is minimal risk with granting this waiver. Regarding the 90 -foot wavier from the proposed drainfield to the well serving this property, an 80 -foot waiver from the well to the septic tank was granted in 2014. Also, the existing drainfield is believed to already encroach upon the 100 -foot well radius. The proposed drainfield will utilize a 2 -foot MOA sand filter. The proposed drainfield is located on the opposite side of the house., so if the drainfield were to daylight, the effluent would not flow towards the well. Recent water samples have been pulled and the results are attached. As can be seen, the nitrate results were non -detect (ND), and the bacteria results were negative. This is evidence that the proposed encroachment will not have an adverse impact on the well. Based upon these mitigating factors, it appears there is minimal risk with granting this waiver. The proposed tank will serve an existing two (2) bedroom house. Currently the lot is developed. The existing 1000g septic tank will be abandoned per code. This lot is served by a private well that is located 82.1 feet from the proposed septic tank, and the private well on Lot 50F is located 88.5 feet from the proposed tank. See waiver request. The surrounding lots are served by private wells. The class `B' well on Lot 49, to the east is located over 200 feet from the proposed septic tank, and the wells on the lots to the west are located over 100 feet from the proposed tank. 1. Upgrade Tank Design. a. See Sheet 1 of the design package. 2. Surface Water: There is no surface water within 100 feet of the proposed septic tank and drain field. The proposed drain field upgrade will maintain at least 100 feet from all surface water and drainage ditches. 3. Topography: The existing topography slopes from the east to the west at approximately 2% in the area of the proposed drain field. There are no steep slopes in the vicinity of this system. 4. Waiver Request: I am requesting a waiver of the minimum distance to the private well on this lot to 80 feet, and of the minimum distance to the private well on Lot 50F to 85 feet. The well on Lot 50A was drilled in the 1950s and is deeper than 95 feet. Static water level is at 56 feet below ground level. The ground water in this area typically flows from the east to west. The well is located 82 feet northeast of the proposed tank. The well was tested by AKWWC in 2003 and found to produce approximately 5.6 G.P.M. Water samples from this well were taken at that time and found to contain less than 0.100 mg/L of nitrates, bacteria was negative. The well on Lot 50F is an agricultural well serving lot 50E, according to municipality records. No documentation can be found for this well. Schultz, Lot 4, to the north has the nearest well with a well log, located approximately 250 feet to the north of this tank installation. This well log reports silty sand and gravel to a depth of 108 feet below the surface. During our site visit, separation distances were checked and found some separation distances that need explanation. The following is a list of the separation distance explanations: • For the well and septic system on the referenced property, the separation distance to the septic tank was found to be 70+ feet and to the drainfield was found to be 80+ feet. Since both the well and septic system were installed prior to 1959, these separation distances should be grandfathered. • A well was found on lot 50F, Rebischke S/D. The lot appeared to be vacant with no house located on this property. According to Mr. Rebischke, the well is an agricultural well for use on lot 50E and the well was drilled in the 1950's. The separation distance from this well to the septic system on the referenced property is 50+ feet. This separation distance should be grandfathered. • A well was found on Lot 49; SE '/4, Section 11, TI IN, R2W. The well serves "Until That Day" church. No documentation could be found on this well. We are under the assumption that the well was drilled in the 1960's, but there is no documentation to verify that assumption. The separation distance from this well to the septic tank on the referenced property is 180+ feet. This well should be a class `B" well and if it was drilled prior to October 1973, the separation distances would be 120 feet to the septic tank and 150 to the drainfield. If the well was drilled prior to 1973, the separation distance should be grandfathered. If the well was drilled after 1973, the separation distance should be 200 feet. If a waiver were required, the owners of lot 49 would be required to obtain the waiver since the septic system on the referenced property was installed prior to the well being drilled on lot 49. The exact location of the end of the drainfield is unknown. During the installation of the double cleanouts, a tape measure was snaked down the distribution line only 20 feet. It appeared that the end of the drainfield was on property. However, we request that your department issue a 0 foot lot line waiver from the west property line to the existing drainfield. We are unaware of any adverse impacts this waiver would have on adjacent wells or septic systems. We request that a Health Authority Approval be issued for the referenced property.
