We are submitting this pen -nit application for the construction of a new septic system. The attached site plan identifies the location of the home, the septic system, and the alternate site. There are no conflicts between this proposed system and any other well or septic system on this lot or adjacent lots. The ground surface on the lot slopes slightly towards the front, with no slopes greater than 25% within 50 feet downslope of either the primary or alternate site. Contours on the site plan indicate the grade and direction of flow. Stormwater drainage will not impact this septic system. The new trench will need to be constructed across the slopes because of the position of the house and the trench location. Maximum depths to the east will be 12' with 5.5' of cover, and to the west 9' with 2.5' of cover. This will require 6" of additional cover with 1' specified to account for settlement. Please see the attached Septic Profile. With this information, we have determined that the trench will be in receiving soils at both ands and will have the required vertical separation. We request a waiver to permit the trench to be installed against the slope. The neighborhood uses a community well. The new system will be a minimum of 200 feet from all wells and 100' from surface water, and more than 5 feet away from the septic tank. The alternate site is located more than 6 feet away. Please refer to the attached test hole log, plan, and profile pages for the septic design. If this design is followed, there will be no adverse impacts to adjacent properties.
