The old leach field was replaced and not permitted. We have documented the field and tank as per the attached design. A new test hole was drilled and found silty sand for the entire 30-foot depth. No perc was done but the soils were excellent silty sand SM, the same as lot 22. It appears the system has existed for over 20 plus years with no violations. The area is very tight with existing wells surrounding this lot. The existing tank is fiberglass and was excavated and found to be in good condition. The leach field was also excavated and found to have the correct pipe with fabric as required. The field was dry at the time of excavation. Justification for these waivers is the system has been working for a long time with no issues, water test attached, see more justification below. We have no water table issues and the tank is in good condition due to it being fiberglass, therefore no leaks. Comments from Deb. Provide water samples for Lot 22…. ATTACHED, LOT 22 WATER TEST Provide additional justification: ie: Lot 22 well is newer and built under the new code with bentonite requirements… around the casing, are there confining layers?, etc. YES THE WELL ON LOT 22 IS NEW AND HAS THE BENTONITE SEALING AND THE WATER TESTS FOR BOTH LOTS HAVE VERY LOW NITRITE LEVELS, SEE ATTACHED. ALSO THE WELL LOG ON LOT 22 IS 210’ WITH A GOOD CONFINING LAYERS OF CLAY AT THE 160’LEVEL, SEE ATTACHED LOG. WE HAVE NO WELL LOG FOR LOT 20 BUT ITS DEPTH IS ABOUT THE SAME SO WE CAN ASSUME THE SAME CONFINING LAYER AT APPROX. 160’ Submit a soils log with 7-day groundwater monitoring. ATTACHED Without a perc rate, justify the application rate. SOIL LOG FROM LOT 22 SHOWS GOOD SANDY SOILS SM FOR THE DESIGN TEST HOLE AND IS VERY CLOSE TO OUR SEPTIC SITE. IR: Change the bedroom count to 4. REVISED IR: Not documenting the tank at this time, remove the tank information. This investigation was performed in accordance with your request of October 2, 1972 and those pro- cedures outlined in a letter dated September 13, 1971 by Mr. Rolf Strickland of the Greater Anchorage Area Borough Department of Environmental Quality. A single test hole was put down within the Lot 20 area for the purpose of defining general subsurface soil conditions for the proposed sanitary system. Excavation was accomplished with an auger type drilling rig and the test hole was extended to a total depth of 8.5 feet below ground surface. The final log prepared for the test hole has been included in Drawing A-01. Ground water was not encountered in the test hole. Material encountered from 3. 5 feet to 8.5 feet classified as G. P. due to gradation results. However, we feel the material falls in the category of 85 square feet per bedroom classification. We appreciate being given this opportunity to be of service to you.
