Ref: Proposed Septic Upgrade for Prator; Block 9, Lot 1;
To whom it may concern:
The existing 3 bedroom house is served by a private well and septic system. The existing septic system is
in a state of failure and needs to be upgraded. We are proposing to install a new 1000 gallon septic tank
and a dual deep trench type drainfield. One test hole was excavated on the property. The drainfield will
be designed around the 30 foot radius of this test hole. Comments regarding the design are summarized
as follows:
1. SOILS: See the attached log which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the
percolation test results.
2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications.
3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100 feet of the proposed septic system.
4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached topography drawing the topography around the
drainfield runs east to west at a 10-15% slope. In short, there are no slope concerns.
We are unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems.

On June 7, 1984, AECS performed a soils test on Block 9, Lot 1, Prator
Subdivision. A small backhoe was used which only could dig 11.5 feet. ' f
The soil was GM and perked at 324 sq. ft./bd.. (A copy of this soil log
is attached.) A permit was issued based on this test. Not realizing the
lot is on a steep slope, an option for a bed was included in the permit,
to be 27 x 52 in size.
The owner and his excavator had erroneously but understandably begun
building the bed in such a manner that the end that would be lowest on
the lot would be 5 feet below ground level, as the permit called for.
This, however, made the bed at the upper part of the lot to be at 11
feet, due to the great slope of the lot. I pointed out that at this end,
they were now potentially only 6 inches from a water table and would have
to dig down another 4 feet to find out whether or not it was dry.
To my horror, at 11.5 feet the QK ended and a terrible clay began --they
had effectively removed all of their good G4 and were building a bed on
clay without realizing it. Fortunately, the excavator had a huge backhoe
that could dig deep, so I told him to keep digging. At 15 feet, we hit
gravel, and it continued to 22 feet, with no water.
The gravel was coarse with occasional sand seams. There were small
scattered pockets of silt and a few inch -thin layers of silt. The gravel
was clean enough to rate at 85 sq. ft./bd., but I could not do this,
because of the silt. On the other hand, if I tried to perk the soil, the
perk hole would unavoidably have so much gravel in it that it would
erroneously appear to perk at 85 sq. ft./bd.. Therefore, I rated the
soil at 150 sq. ft./bd. to compensate for the minor silt. I also had the
excavator use his backhoe to break up the strata so that no silt layers
in the gravel could form a barrier to septic effluent.
I explained these things to Susan Oswalt over the phone on June 23, 1984,
the day I inspected the system, and she granted me permission to
re -design the bed provided I turn in a new log and a letter of
explanation.

Engineer's Comments:
In conducting this evaluation, GEG, UD. attempted to provide a thorough,
conscientious engineering analysis of the system in accordance with ADEC and MOA
DSD Guidelines & Regulations. The reported results described the performance of the
system under the conditions encountered at the time of the test, and separation
distances measured to readily identifiable features. The operational life of all wells and
septic systems depend on the local soils condition, groundwater levels that may
fluctuate during the year, and the water usage of the family being served by the system.
These conditions are outside the control of the evaluator of the system. Satisfactory test
results do not guarantee future performance of the system, nor do they guarantee that
there are no hidden defects or encroachments. GEG, LTD. can therefore not provide
any warranty or future estimate of how long the system will continue to meet the
operational requirements of the ADEC or MOA DSD. The content of this report is for
the sole benefit of the owner listed above. Any reliance upon or use of this report by any
other person or party is not authorized, nor will it confer any legal tight whatsoever
