I let him know at that time I'd get that work done this summer when the weather was more favorable. At this time, both of those final steps have been completed on my system, please let me know if anything else is needed. As can be seen on the 2016 record drawings, the existing well is approximately 90 feet from the 1980 drainfield and 63 feet from the 2016 STEP tank. We are requesting that your department issue a variance allowing a drainfield to well separation of 90 feet and STEP tank to well separation of 63 feet. Justifications for granting this waiver are as follows: • Prior to the installation of the 2016 upgrade, the 1980 drainfield was the trench that served the property. The encroachment of 90 feet likely existed for the life of the system. • An adequacy test was performed on the 1980 trench (currently active) on 9/3/2020 and was shown to be capable of absorbing the MOA required 450 gallons for a 3 -bedroom home. • It should be noted that the 1980 trench is in a 10' utility easement. Letters of non -objection will be applied for and submitted to MOA once approved. • The STEP tank is a polyurethane coated steel Advantex tank. • The contractor must provide an interior alarm to meet MOA STEP tank requirements. • The house is located between the well and drainfield/septic tank. If effluent were to overflow, it could not travel directly towards the well head. • The most recent nitrate sample from 1/10/2018 was 5.83 mg/L • Although the Advantex system is not required, the system will still be functional. The effluent will be pumped through the treatment pod before going to the "stinger assembly" and discharging to the conventional drainfield. • A low-level cutoff float shall be provided as to activate an audible alarm in the event of a low-level condition to the tank. The drainfield is in a state of failure and needs to be upgraded. We are proposing to install a new AX -20 Advantex treatment system (CAT III), a 1500 gallon Advantex tank, and deep trench type drainfield. One testhole was excavated on the property and the drainfield is designed within the 30 foot radius. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See the attached 2016 soil log which show the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test results. 2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications. 3. SURFACE WATERS: Per conversations with the homeowner, there is seasonal surface water located along the north property line. However, no water was noted during the testhole excavation or septic inspection. Furthermore, MOA stream/wetlands maps do not show any surface water/s in the subject area. 4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached topography drawing, the average topography around the proposed drainfield is 25-30% with a cutbank approximately 30 feet west of the proposed drainfield_A-Waiv6lr to this cutbank is addressed in this letter. 5. Justification for granting this waiver is as follows: a. The house is located between the proposed Irainfield and existing well. If effluent were to overflow it would not travel towards the well head. b. The topography of the lot (east to west) is such that if effluent were to overflow, it would not travel towards the well head. c. We will be using a CAT III advanced treatment system. Water samples were pulled on 2/18/2016. The results are as follows: -Arsenic: Non -Detectable -Nitrate: 5.70 mg/L -Coliform: Negative 2. Proposed Drainfield to Slopes >25%: As can be seen on the attached 40 scale design drawing, the average topography around the drainfield is approximately 25-30%. Additionally, there is a cutbank approximately 30 feet west from the proposed drainfield. We are requesting your department issue a 0 foot waiver from the proposed drainfield to slopes greater than 25%. Justification for granting these waivers are as follows: a. We will be using CAT III advanced treatment. The effluent quality will be a much higher than that of a CAT I system. b. The system will be remotely monitored and inspected annually (as a minimum). If the tank were to become surcharged, the homeowner and AWTS service provider would be notified through the AWTS remote monitoring system. c. See attached drawing page 4 of 4 which shows that a line 2 feet above the top of rock at a 25% slope would not daylight until 31.5 feet. d. The existing drainfield is closer to the cutbank than the proposed drainfield with no daylighting observed. e. Given the porosity of the soil and percolation rate (9.1 min/inch). We believe there will be more vertical movement than horizontal movement. 3. Proposed Drainfield to Lot Line: The proposed drainfield is approximately 3 feet from the west lot line. We are requesting your department waive the required separation distance of 10 feet to 1 foot separation. These approvals certify that the systems are adequate for the homes that they support and meet the codes that were in place at the time of system construction. Damage. Any man-made or natural change in a system that would inhibit the system from performing as designed. Maintenance and Repair. The scheduled and as needed replacement of existing parts, components and pieces of an AW WTS that were included in the original design which would allow the AW W TS to continue to perform as designed. Permit. An On -Site Wastewater Disposal Permit as required by AMC 15.65 to construct and operate an AW WTS. 3. Term. The term of this Maintenance and Repair Agreement shall begin on the date of approval by the Municipality to operate the installed system or issuance of a COSA, and shall continue while the AW WTS is in use or is operational or until the property is sold or title is transferred by the owner and a new COSA is issued to the new owner or transferee of the property. 4. Alterations. Installation and Removal of Additional Eguipment. Prior to performing any alterations to an AW WTS, the owner agrees to obtain an On-site Wastewater Disposal Permit from the Municipality in accordance with AMC 15.65. 5. Maintenance and Repairs. A. Throughout the term of this Maintenance and Repair Agreement, the Owner shall maintain their AW W TS in a satisfactory condition capable of producing treated septic effluent in accordance with the equipment's approval for operation in the Municipality. The owner shall enter into a service agreement with an AW WTS service and maintenance provider approved by the municipality and the manufacturer of the AW WTS for the entire term of the AW W TS. In addition, it shall be the responsibility of the Owner during the term of this Maintenance and Repair Agreement, and any renewals thereof, at the owner's sole expense, to pay for any and all: (1) repair(s), (2) maintenance, (3) adjustment(s), (4) replacement costs, and (5) inspection costs. B. Owner agrees to comply with all applicable ordinance, laws, regulations, rules and orders for the AW WTS. C. Upon request by the Municipality, the owner agrees to provide the Municipality a written schedule of routine maintenance and repairs which have been performed on the system. When a record of maintenance is documented and maintained by the system vendor, the owner agrees to allow the Municipality access to this information. D. Owner acknowledges that the fine for failing to maintain and repair an AW WTS may be assessed in accordance with AMC 14.60 for improper discharge. E. Owner agrees that only maintenance and repair personnel approved by the Municipality will inspect and make any necessary maintenance, repairs or permitted alterations to the system. F. Owner agrees to grant the Municipality reasonable access to test and inspect the AW WTS upon 24 hours written notice. G.
